I guess we should praising them for coming to their sense ahead of time. These two schools aren't Notre Dame after all. :P

Now that's a motto they should have went by.

Illinois vs Northwestern Wrigleyville Classic: "At Least We Aren't Notre Dame!"

UPDATE: Upon offensive turrnovers (fumbles and interceptions), defensive players will be instructed to run towards the defended endzone (West endzone). If the turnover occurs on the defensive half of the field AND the defensive player converts the turnover for a touchdown 3 points will be rewarded. 6 points will be awarded for touchdowns resulting from turnovers occurring on the offensive half of the field.

They're just taking football back to it's playground roots by instituting the "losers walk" rule.

Yeah, i guess they can't do that setup anymore b/c of the adding of seats...well then I guess this is the last game there, unless they tear down the wall...

I heard that they had 8 yard endzones when the Bears played there. Any truth to that?

The game will also be under "You make it you take it" rules.

In Evanston we used to call that "West side".

A caller to "The Dan Patrick Show" this morning said that WGN 720's Dave Kaplan was on a radio station in Iowa and mentioned the added seats. Unfortunately, show blogger Andrew "McLovin" Perloff, who is clueless to begin with, chimed in and mentioned the name Gabe Kaplan, as in the guy who played "Mr. Kotter" on the classic '70s sitcom turned poker pro, not the WGN Radio sportscaster/host of Comcast SportsNet's "Chicago Tribune Live". Talk about lost in translation!

Other than the people who paid for tickets in that area.... what is the big deal? I'm actually stunned that this is much of a story. From a players perspective, it seriously doesn't change much. Actually the only thing that I see mattering is substitutions (both teams are sharing one sidelie). One team will have an advantage when they can sub a bit quicker in the red zone.

That explains why they will switch sideline position at halftime.

MUD, really? Come on man, I consider you one of the more level headed NU alums.....you don't think it's a big deal? When was the last time a team had to only play one way on offense?

By-product of this awesome news - figuratively sticking a red-hot poker up the ass of every old codger who wonders "WHY THE HELL DON'T DEY DO IT NORT'-SOUT' LIKE DA BEARS DID IT".

The "College GameDay" setup right across the street from Wrigley Field in the McDonald's parking lot will look a lot better than what Northwestern & Illinois will be playing in! Talk about embarrassing!

I'm glad I didn't go for those RF rooftop tickets. Those were $285 for the works. Those people won't be happy.

I wonder if this will effect next years Northwestern/Iowa football game scheduled to be played in a racquetball court.

Why don't they just play North/South like the Bears used to?

It will also be a 5 second count before you can rush the passer.

I wonder if All-State is pissed that they won't get that highlight where some kid touches their wall and then catches fire and explodes.

He's going to lose it discussing how unspecial Wrigley is to begin with.

Please explain why this is a big deal other than for those who paid for those seats? Tell me how it changes the game? I'm really trying to understand.
