Well the biggest movie release of the year and it was sadly a disappointment.I loved the books and I know this book was huge that is why it is in two parts but they are cutting way too much out. In order to make sense they are going to have to cram a lot into the last movie.
The three kids where for the most part okay. Mr Gingrt seems to have evolved the most of them in his abilities. The wedding is cut too short as there was a lot that went on as well as the Hogwarts scenes are almost totally missing, one can only hope that they show up in the second half.I saw this film on Imax and it was not as visually stunning or impressive as any other IMAX experience.
THe pace was turgid and even though the plot coming into the movie from the last flowed along if I did not read the book I would have been lost

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D :D

What I read the books and went to see all the movies. I know I am not the only mother fucker on this board that has done that.

This is defiantly not a kids movie.

i never liked the idea of splitting the last book into 2 movies. i am gonna try to see this today if i care enough to. we'll see. maybe i'll see it next week. but the last movie was probably the best in the movie series.

i've enjoyed the books thoroughly.

I read the books...actually, I held out for quite a bit and then read as many of the books I could before the 1st movie came out.
yes, I bought books 5, 6, 7 on the days they came out...

I'm looking forward to being the biggest fucking nerd-boy in the world when the Dark Tower movies come out, so I can't hate on the Harry Potter fiends.

Agreed with Chas except that I'm not really concerned with how faithful they are to all of those scenes in the book as much as I am keeping the narrative going which they didn't do very well in this film.

Like some of the previous installments, this film suffers from AWFUL pacing problems. There are at least 2 moments where you're pretty sure the film should be over, and then it goes on for another 45 minutes...just to end on a cliffhanger. That's quite a let down.

This is why I wasn't a fan of splitting this up into 2 parts. The first part is going to be mostly set up and no resolution. The problem is they introduced two MacGuffins and at two opposite ends of the film. At first you're thinking, OK it's about getting rid of those Horcruxes...and then you're left with...Oh, now there's a wand too?

The Deathly Hallows should've actually been referenced in the beginning. It felt tacked on to be placed where it was; and so did Dobby's presence.

The film looked fine, and Rupert Grint is easily the best actor in this series as far as the kids go. But there were a lot of scenes that went nowhere, a lot of establishing shots that weren't necessary, and too many climaxes that aren't built up well enough.

And even though in the books it's fine because you can casually keep referencing them, there are TOO many damn NAMES thrown around in this series to keep track of. They're always long, hardly memorable, and tossed around as if you're supposed to know what their importance is.

:D :D out of :D :D :D :D
