A nice start to the season with 3 double digit home wins. It looks like this year they finally have the balance of size and depth to make some noise in the Horizon League.

I'm waiting to see how badly KSU destroys them before I make such grand statements, they usually do very well before conference play, but that's because the have one of the softest non conference schedules around, with exception of SFU and of course Kansas state...

I don't know how Loyola can have a soft schedule, as just about everyone is better than them on a regular basis. The only time I had real hope for this team in the recent past was when Schilb and Kuo were seniors. They ended up pissing that chance away.

This year they have a good mix of young and old with size. They are not tall, but they have enough 6-8 guys who are big and know they have to rebound. I went to the game on Friday and they played some great defense.

I think the scheduling is appropriate for Loyola, but it still is soft rating wise.

Wasn't that a 20-win season? I had Nit hopes that year especially after they won their bracket buster game against eiu, but alas still no postseason. I'm not too knowledgeable of the roster, but I am excited about Hawg Ass's boy from Wisconsin who is like 6-7 with good three point range, I think he had something like 15 points on friday. He's only a sophomore, so there is some good potential there. And with the revamped stadium I'm excited about recruiting potential. And the revamped campus in general should make for better recruiting as well...

Averkamp

They also have Polka, who is about the same height but bigger.

I have no hope for recruiting. Every year you see players from the city going to every college, including UIC, and you never see anyone going to Loyola. This indicates they have no presence in the public leagues which gives them little hope of getting one of those guys who otherwise falls through the cracks.

It really sucked when Jordan chose to walk on at Illinois rather than come to Loyola. He could have had a great career in the Horizon League.

If I were Whitesall, I'd key on the Catholic League. Get the Catholic Legue player of the year every year and maybe when a really good one comes along, you get a lucky break.

Instead, the big recruit is some guy from mouth breathing Munster, Indiana.

Northwestern and Loyola could probably exchange coaches and each would end up better for it.

Better yet, Loyola could just hire Jerry Wainwright as an assistant, and bam your Chicago area recruiting just improved. Granted not by much, but still better than anything you have currently.

But why would Jerry Wainwright want that job you might ask?

Well he probably wouldn't... Is how I would answer.

Butler down big to Louisville :( wish it wasn't on espn.

5 in a row now...and for the first time I can recall they are blowing out every opponent.

 I forgot about the EIU game... That was the closest one I believe, and that game was over at half.

6-0 baby with each win by double digits. This is unprecedented stuff on Sheridan Road.

Didn't Loyola win some minor title in 1963?

They did and it was the last time an LU team has started the year with this many consecutive double digit wins.

Saturday @ San Fran is the first test, then they have Butler after that. Something tells me that they lose both.

For what it's worth, Ken Pomeroy has Loyola as one of the top 100 teams in the country right now. Not great, to be sure, but pretty respectable.

http://kenpom.com/team.php?team=Loyola%20Chicago

He predicts the game at DePaul will be a Loyola win.

I'm assuming K-state is playing this game at Loyola so Jacob Pullen can play in front of his family.

I have not been to a Loyola game in over 20 years. I am interested in Butler on Wednesday. Is it sold out? Will it sell out? Is it a tough ticket to get?

Thanks in advance.

Butler loses to Evansville today, and all of a sudden, the Horizon league looks winable.

I cant remember the last sell out loyola had, so you should be fine, just so long as you don't mind bench seating. Stadium seating doesn't come until after the commencement ceremony this June... I'm sure the KS game will be sold out if its not already though...

$20 for the butler game, so I'm thinking that you'll be fine...

If you call in the next couple of days I think you can get a pack of Butler, Kansas State, UIC and any other game you want for $40.

I think they have been playing Kansas State the last several years. They seem to have one big game they have no chance of winning every year.
