Well, in fairness, it was 36 degrees at 5:00 PM yesterday. Never has Chicago football seen such hellish conditions.

The reason on ESPNU is biting off more than you can handle. They had Va. Tech-Miami on ESPN and the Nationwide Series on ESPN2, and probably didn't want to split up the Big 10 market with having 2 games on ABC.

This year long marketing campaign has raised the visibility athletics of NU in this entire area where they have always been perceived as some sort of exclusive North Shore preserve.
I await the arrival of the Nebraska Cornhuskers where Dr. Ken, Mud and I can finance 20 years of tailgate parties on Stub Hub.

You know what my thought was during the game? I actually think that both teams going the same direction is better than the current setup. If the teams were on each sideline I think it would actually be the most fair way as the wind direction would have the exact same effect. There have been plenty of games where the wind has been a major factor.

I'd still have the end zone rotate at the quarter and half but I think that it's actually backwards how the current game of football is played. It would be the equivalent of having two home plates in baseball and having one team hitting into the wind and the other hitting with the wind. It would balance out but at any given time both teams are playing under different circumstances.

I would go a step further, and actually put the entire field on a swivel, and have it slowly rotate during the entire game, like one of those store-front holiday displays.
