I'll have a bottle of the almighty red every now and then, but I was drinking beer at the tailgate. Not spanky's beer though.

Lucky you. I heard he rubbed his sack on the rims of the cans before putting them in his cooler.

I think he's kind of a weasel, myself.
But he's an awfully good poster, and in
the end we see eye to eye on the best way
to run a radio show. We're in the
business of critiquing sports radio shows, Spaulding.
That's a responsibility we have to take pretty
hilariouslly. And I believe that taking a
host who's not yet up to the job and
allowing him off to do Jovi Tributes,
weakens the overall product.

/\ Talking about IB, Rick is just an asshole.

Not really a comment on right or wrong. I think if all parties involved Mac, station, and pants are okay with time off, who sits in, or whatever we can have an opinion but we aren't necessarily right. I often become combative and defensive with Rick and IB and it's really not my nature.

meatpants certainly could do a better job of faking interest in chicago sports.
What I don't get about the guy is that he seems to not like his job. He seems to be much more into his part time job as a crooner for a cover band. This isn't a bad thing, and I don't fault him for it. If I had a choice myself I'd spend more time on my band than I do my real job. But I don't have that luxury. I have to make the doughnuts so to speak. And I have to do it better than everyone else at my Shop because if I didn't I'd have been one of the 90% of us that was laid off during this downturn.

I can't say that the man is lazy, but he spends his free time on things other than working on his primary job. And that might not even be true, however that is the perception that I get listening to them. His job is one that requires a large amount of "homework" and nothing I've heard from him indicates that he does his homework. No one at SCR will come to him and require him to watch the games. Just like no one at my company requires me to keep up to date on my training. But the ones who did (me) are still here while the ones who didn't are gone.

I don't dislike Meatpants at all. He's a serviceable sidekick. but there's a reason why it's the Danny Mac show and not MacMeat show or whatever. He doesn't seem interested in taking that extra step and I think it holds him back. ultimately, he must choose what it is he wants to do. If he wants to be boo-boo to Yogi then he just has to make silly comments and sing little ditties and his Mmm Hmmms. If he wants to be the guy in Mac's seat at some point, significant changes must be made to his work ethics.

Oh, back to my "I don't dislike Meat" comment.... The way he handles criticism is disturbing at best. Lashing out at everyone who has even good points to make show he isn't going to hack it in either business he chooses. Sure there's quite a bit of Chaff in the Wheat here but he dismisses it all and calls out the actual fans of the show, the people who are clearly are listening, and I believe that to be an issue that he will have to work on. He certainly has a very high opinion of himself and that shows in his comments and little digs.

From what I've seen he does his homework. It may not translate into entertainment well but I think you are missing the mark on that one.

It seems to you guys that he misses a lot of days but I'd like to see the actual #.

We'll just have to disagree then Spaulding. I can't see a guy who goes to the game and doesn't pay attention or leaves early or gives away his tickets as someone who does his homework. I've never really heard him say anything particularly deep or thoughtful about... well much of anything. I would wager he spends 4x his free time on Tributo than he does watching games.

And I totally stand by my comment about him not liking Chicago Sports.

I think he's a good listen talking about baseball. He should just own his Boston loyalty. Doesn't bother me that Terry is a arbitrary Tampa Bay Rays fan

Speigs just called Andrea Bargnani a bust for a number 1 pick. A bust? Really? He isn't a superstar...but he isn't a bust.

I could see that. Bargnani is pretty good, but if #1s are supposed to be game-changing franchise players, he falls well short. He's not a Greg Oden mega-bust, more of just a "oh, so he went #1 overall that year, hm" guy. Sort of like Andrew Bogut.

Terry is a White Sox fan, I think.

It would also help if he wasn't on a shitty team. You can't shine a shit.

As far as him doing his homework it sounds more like he does it cliff notes style by watching sportscenter.

2010 - John Wall - likely perennial All-Star
2009 - Blake Griffin - too early to tell, should be a franchise player
2008 - Derrick Rose - likely perennial All-Star
2007 - Greg Oden - all-time bust
2006 - Andrea Bargnani - pretty good guy on a mediocre/bad team
2005 - Andrew Bogut - decent if not injury-prone big man
2004 - Dwight Howard - perennial All-Star, potential Hall of Famer
2003 - LeBron James - Hall of Famer
2002 - Yao Ming - perennial All Star, had a good run till he fell apart
2001 - Kwame Brown - major bust but at least he suited up
2000 - KDdidit Martin - has had a pretty good career for himself

Bargnani's not the worst on that list, but far from the best.

Why doesn't Mac tell Meatpants to quit? Mac was the one who got him the job, and it has to piss him off that this fucker is always gone. He can't even work the 3 day holiday week. I think its time to part ways with this dope.

Remember how Mac defended (and had a sexy embrace with) Harry until he was down the dial?
Mac doesn't have the Sac to take shots at current coworkers.
But once they're gone... he'll make fun.

So you are a fan of airing dirty laundry? If he does feel that way why would he make it public? What good would come of that besides giving us something to gossip about?

Didn't he say that entertainment is his number 1 priority?
And once again, thanks for completely missing my point.
I'm saying that he won't ask Meat to quit, and would never say anything other than supportive things given what we know of his history.
Damn spaulding, Chill out.

Darkside is right, at least in the part about it coming later.

One day Mac will let loose and start slicing and dicing Meat.
