I would prefer an exile to Toronto.

Probably the most overrated player in the game, and it seems even the Yankees are aware they are overpaying him, and there is a limit to their willingness to overpay. He really has no value to any other franchise than the Yankees.

Apologist is half right on that. The guy's glove is average at best...I'm not going to re-hash the gold glove argument from last week.

His bat is still solid, and he is a good gap hitter with decent speed, so the idea of him in Detroit, with the huge outfield, makes me ill as a Sox fan.

If you are not a Yankees fan and separate the emotional significance of what he represents to that franchise, he really doesn't excel in any particular area at this point, and he is approaching an age where skills fall off the table fast. He costs his team runs at the most critical defensive position. He is a leadoff man in a potent lineup, does not hit for power, yet his OBA was only .340. He is an average player, yet is paid like a franchise player.

If you clowns think that I am going to waste my valuable time responding to these insane ramblings then maybe you ought to go back to clown school and learn the lesson that generally people do not really care about what clowns have to say, they just want to be entertained by clowns.

What else is a clown going to do - give you financial advice?

I think even a clown would say that $50million, at this point, for Derek Sanderson Jeter is not a wise investment.

Remember Miguel Olivo? He had a productive 2010 with the Rockies, but was originally in the White Sox system. Where I'm going with this is if Anthony John Pierzynski isn't re-signed by the Sox, Olivo could be a potential replacement on the 2011 Southsiders. You would think now that John Buck is a Florida Marlin, the chances of A.J. re-signing with the Sox has increased, but so far, no deal...

SHARK - the knock on Olivio is that he can't handle a pitching staff. Rumor was before his departure, that certain pitchers (namely a certain Gold Glove lefty from the Show Me State) wouldn't throw to him.

Any staff that starts with Verlander and Porcello has a chance to be okay. I don't think their pitching is particularly bad.

Porcello was horrid last year. Scherzer had a decent year and is probably their number two. Valverde is a good closer. Zumaya can't stay healthy. Ryan Perry has some promise. Other than that, suck-ass.

Tigers just signed former Rays setup man Benoit to a 3 year deal. Bullpen just got a whole lot better.

A certain Cy Young contender from the Rockies wasn't thrilled with him either. And Jiminez was BAD in the second half.

The Pirates have designated Zach Duke, Andy LaRoche and Delwyn Young for assignment. Time for Hendry to rape and pillage.

Apparently the Glorious One was told to shop the market if he doesn't like the current offer being proposed to him.

The Dodgers signed Jon Garland 1yr/$5MM deal with an $8M option for 2012. The $8M option vests after 190 innings.

Very good signing by the Dodgers. Garland likes pitching in the NL west so that 190 inning incentive is easily reachable (he's reached it every year since '02).

Dodgers grab Juan Uribe for 3/$21M. They plan to play him mostly at 2nd, apparently sending the great Ryan Theriot to the bench. Then again, Furcal isn't exactly Cal Ripken in terms of staying on the field. Casey Blake at 3rd could be adequate, could fall off the table at any time, so apparently Ned Colletti's strategy is just to collect as many utility infielders as possible.

Based on his last couple years, it's hard to say this is an overpay, if for nothing else it will annoy the Giants.

Juan Uribe will spend the entire off season eating with that kind of guaranteed money.
