Yeah, that was pretty bad, the second call, at least.

I'm not sure what has Murph's panties in a bunch, but he seems particularly agitated today. During "Tool of the week" he got very short with a caller who nominated him for interupting guests such as Steve Stone during their answers. A subsequent caller jabbed him for spending several minutes sarcastically deriding the initial tool nomination to which Murph became irate and hung up on the guy.

There was also a point during the segment where Murph listed the Score's daily lineup, but (seemingly) intentionally left out B&B . I found it amusing given that B&B both actually credited Murph on yesterday's show for a strong ratings lead-in.

Anyway the stuff with Murph doesn't surprise me. A miserable man who takes his self-misery out on others. I know he gets very good ratings, but it doesn't mean I still don't want him to go away.

This is no surprise. He's shown on several occassion that he doesn't take criticism well, and he usually cuts off the caller in midsentence for one of his rants or hangs up on them.
The guy starts almost everyone of his shows whining about how he has to cram five hours into a two-hour show.
Shouldn't he just be happy that he still has a daily slot?

I see Murph is the still the same old POS.
Still a miserable, talentless POS. Nothing has or ever will change with this sorry a-hole.

Hey Murph, YOU STILL SUCK!!! YOU SORRY POS!!!!

I'm sure if you took a poll at his station on who's hated more: Boers or Murph--Murph would win in a land slide.

I wonder if maybe he's such a POS because his co-workers treat him like shit? I'd imagine that wears down on you after a while.

His co-workers hate him because as Murph's a Tool points out, "He's a POS." He's the ultimate jag. Go back to any previous threads pointing out why he's so hated. Here I'll help you:

Murph snaps at Cy Strezo:
http://score670.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=6186

The infamous Boers/Mulligan vs. Murph: Murph comes across as the villain, and rightfully so.
http://score670.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=4443

Abbatacola openly takes shots at Murph and confirms that pretty much everyone at the Score hates him because he's an asshole.

I just heard the show on the podcast. Ya, wtf is up with murph. why was he such a a hole to that guy. Murph has taken other Tool calls that nominated him without this much anger. Maybe murph thinks he's under attack at the score and is lashing out at every little thing.

I think what is up with Murph is easy to see- he's a very thin skinned jerk.

I have never read anywhere that he is a decent guy. Everyone, from radio hosts to employees say the same thing-he's an ass.

I saw him go nuts on a guy at remote once. It was creepy to say the least. He is a classless pud and gives Cub fans a bad name.

I had no choice the otherday and had to listen to his show. It happened to be when the tool of the week segment was on. He can dish it out, but, he certainly can't take it. How is this guy still on the air?
They chose to cut bait with Jonathan Hood instead of this guy?

Unforunately he gets more than adequate ratings. But, I think it's more due to the fact that his competition up the dial is horrendous.

I think that plays into it, but he also seems to have a lot of loyal listeners from all the years he's been on.

well to defend him he has the only show that talks sports from beginning to end. And thats been consistent since he's been on the score. You'll never hear battle of the bands or stand up impressions on murphs show.

But, you hear tired bits that weren't clever in the first place: Counselor Murph, Judge Murph (which wouldn't be too terribly awful if he didn't hammer the joke into the ground: "Producer Cy, where's Murph!? Caller Mike, this isn't Murph, it's Counselor Murph!"), Where's the Beef with the retarded mooing in the background, Celebrity phone-line with a non-celebrity, etc.

Once again in defense of Murph, that first caller was wrong: you kinda have to run the segment, and sometimes that means hurrying up the analyst to make sure all the questions are asked in the allotted time. IIRC, the exchange was like

"Well, what did I do wrong?"
"you kept cuttin stoney off"
"Well, do you want me to ask Stoney ten questions or one?"
"...one"

He did go over the edge, though, when the second caller ripped him. That was the part I found obnoxious. I generally don't mind Murph in small doses. If he's a jackass off the air, it's hard to hold that against him, because most of us here enjoy Boers & Bernstein, and unfortunately I can't shake the feeling that they're not the nicest guys off the air either, unless you guys have some anecdotes for a rebuttal?

Best yellow pad in the business.

And he has never been a jag to me.

of course I did buy him a beer and he gave me his standard line of

'Ya know out of all the callers, you are one of the best"

Told murph I hadn't called him in 5 years, but he can still have the beer.

I often see references to Murph's ratings. Keep in mind that he's against a national show. His ratings wouldn't be 1/5th of what he gets if he were up against MJH.

It's not a surprise that his Forum section has only had 20 topics since October while B+B's section has had that many in the last 2 days.

There are only so many sports talk listeners. I'm pretty sure a good amount would cross both paths. So while I wouldn't completely disagree with you, I think he still would get his brains beat in.

But I will disagree about the internet savy part of your statement.

Not the nicest guys off the air? What about when they are ON the air? They can't go five minutes without putting down a caller who disagrees with them.

That being said, I still enjoy listening to the show. I just think it could do without the sophmorish name-calling every now and then.

I don't. The majority of their calls, whether they're set up that way or not, are poorly constructed, meatheadish, stereotypical sports fan bullshit. When they give the smackdown to their callers it's almost always more than deserved. Did you by chance here the douche that that thought it would be a good idea to move Urlacher to safety AND START LEON FUCKIN JOE AT THE MIDDLE LINEBACKER POSIITION???? Total moron. Deserved the ass kicking he got. And yes I'm drunk still; the Big Mouse decided to open his wallet tonight and beers at Epcot were at an all time low for some promotional mumbo jumbo. LONG LIVE THE MOUSE.
