I do. Boyd definitely does. It seems like many do.

At least the ones that post here. The rest are embarrassed when their wifey packs them a bologna and cheese sammich and therefore do not respond?

I think I figured out why you are poor. Spending money on lunch everyday wastes a pretty big chunk of money over the course of the entire year.

And I make my own bologna and cheese sandwiches.

Yeah, I'm trying to get back into leftovers and whatnot. For a spell, I was working so much that I wasn't really willing to cook when I got home. I had leftover meatloaf and mashed potatoes, but I left it at home, so I ran to Rosati's and got a couple of slices (it just opened in Schaumburg).

I'm not much of a sammich eater, so it's leftovers or out.

The types of foods I buy and make from the grocery store are about the same price, for the same amount of food, as stuff I would find at fast food restaurants or takeout restaurants.

What are you buying from the grocery store?

How can someone seriously claim that they "can't cook"?
Are you incapable of following directions that a 10 year old can follow?
Seriously. Can't cook. How dumb is that?

Look single dudes, learn to cook and keep your kitchen clean and you dramatically increase the probability of gaining access to larger quantities of poon.

Happy you guys carry such an interest in this.

So... you can't read or something? What the hell is wrong with you that you "can't cook"? Is it the reading part, or the following simple directions part?

Typically frozen pizzas, Hormel / Tyson pre-packaged meats, pre-made side dishes (mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese, fries, etc..), frozen burritos, TV dinners, bread, meats, and such for sandwiches, soups, Sloppy Joe stuff, spaghetti & Prego, Tuna Helper, etc etc...

Good lord, we need an intervention here fellas.....

Seriously IMU, anyone can cook basic foods. Find some recipes online, buy the ingredients and do what they tell you and it will come out OK. No one is suggesting you dive into Beef Wellington or something bizarre like that.

I'm not criticizing - I'm here to help. You do not need to buy pre-made side dishes. I'll take the first one, somebody else can follow up:

Mashed Potatoes:
-Buy a 5 lb bag of cheap potatoes
-peel them (this may require the purchase of a peeler - very cheap and also re-usable)
-cut them into smaller chunks
-cover them with water in a pot
-boil for 20 minutes
-mash them with a little milk, salt, pepper, butter - whatever you feel like mixing in (this may require the purcahse of a masher - very cheap and also re-usable)

End.

No, I don't believe it is.
If you can read, and you appear to be able to do so, and you can button your own shirt then cooking is less a matter of skillset and more a function of you being a lazy mother.
So when someone says "I can't cook" that generally means "I'm too lazy to actually try", which is certainly a more accurate way of describing your condition.

Easy Mac and Cheese

Elbow noodles
Shredded Cheese
Milk
Salt
Pepper

Boil noodles according to the directions on the box

Stir the milk/cheese/salt/pepper over low heat to melt the cheese, but not scald the milk. Stir constantly until warm and melted

Drain pasta

Combine pasta and cheese, stir and serve.

Wait, I just re-checked your list. You can make sloppy-joe and tuna helper, but nothing else? You can make a lot more than that if those are do-able.

None of that is true

What you have to keep in mind is that there are contents that are for multiple uses. Milk, seasonings, etc are purchases that are used over and over again.

To be honest, it's far cheaper and healthier in the long run to buy the separate parts than it is to buy the ready-made or go out to eat all the time.

Define a basic meal. I prepare a basic meal every evening for dinner. Let's say I want to make a tuna casserole from scratch. It will be more expensive than Tuna Helper. Or let's say I want to have a breaded chicken sandwich. Buying the flour / breading, chicken breasts, seasonings, etc.. will be more expensive than buying a Chicken Sandwich combo at Wendy's.

Et cetera.

One value meal at Wendys is like 8 bucks. You can get 3 or 4 chicken breasts for that same price. Freeze them individually and pull one out in the morning before you go to work.

Regarding cost of potatoes and Mac/Cheese:

I doubt it. How much are those potatoes - $4.99, for considerably less than 5 lbs of potatoes.?
A 5 lb. bag is @$2.00. You should already have milk salt and pepper.

(Here's a hint - you don't have to make/eat the entire 5 lb. bag at once).
