Cowley's saying they're close to bringing Konerko back too, Frank. I'm guessing ASFB is the only Sox fan who isn't happy right about now.

Wow. That is...uh, strange? Certainly unexpected. I mean I guess you can hide a guy in LF but I don't want Dunn playing more than like 30 games out there.

just wait til dunn hits the wall.... oh just you wait. hopefully he doesn't for the sox' sake as i am a fan of entertaining baseball in the homeland, but when he hits the wall it will be quite ugly.

One thing being reported is that the Dunn/Konerko signings would spell potentially the end for Mark Buerhle with the Sox. I'm fine with this. It also frees up Viciedo as trade bait for an arm.

This means that Either Dunn plays 150 games in Left or Konerko plays 150 games in the field.
Unless you're allowed two DH's now.
That would be a thing.

He's bad in the outfield but you can mitigate that if you do it right. They're going to strike out 10-12 guys when Jackson and Sale pitch. That leaves 15-17 outs. How many of those balls go to left? Now how many of them go to left that he can't handle? His poor defense is negligible.

Its a good signing. The money is probably a bit too much but that is what the market was bearing. How old will Dunn be at the end of the deal?

You're not putting fuckin Dunn in LF in the AL are you? Guy HAS GOT to be a solid DH. Didn't he say he didn't want to DH though? Damn if he did that's hilariously wrong.

Split DH duties and 1B duties

Thats not so bad then. Especially since you can put him at DH in the last few years of the deal. Good move by Kenny.

If Konerko comes back, I'm somewhat pleased.....Adam Dunn is a favorite of your stathead guy, Bernstein....I doubt if signing Adam Dunn has the phones waking up the season ticket reps.

SEEMS TO ME THEY SHOULD SIGN ALEXEI BEFORE THIS BIG OAF DUNN.

They've got plenty of time to sign Ramirez. And Dunn isn't my favorite player either. I think walks have gone from being largely ignored to being highly overvalued. But he fills a need for the Sox and fills it better than anyone else who was available.

The only thing shaky in Minnesota is their starting rotation.

in an update i heard that the sox exercised their 2.75 million dollar option on ramirez for 2011.

alexei for 2.75 mil = someone desperate to play after getting out of cuba. great deal for the sox.

I heard Pavano might be getting 3 or 4 years. Good luck to whoever signs him. He will probably pitch 20 games throughout the legnth of the deal.

And that bullpen is going look a lot different. And Nathan coming off that surgery is a big question mark.

I think we've gotten the best years out of Buehrle. If he could be traded for a young CF under team control for several years, I do it in a heartbeat. No disrespect to 56, but they can afford to move someone out of that rotation with Sale in the wings.
