Did you guys catch the sideline report of the Bears' saying "don't be surprised if we blow them out?" Same 'ole over-confident Bears. We keep hearing about how they'll learn from their mistakes, yet they just keep right on repeating them. No doubt they'll go into next week's game believing they'll walk.

I'm not worried about the Saints.

Bears 21
Saints 14

Did Rex step up?

Yes. He performed fairly well today.

Don't worry about the defense they will bounce back next week. Remember I picked the Bears and the Chargers about 6 weeks ago. Matt I told you there is no reason to panic Rex would deliver. I know he had a pick but even the biggest Grossman hater would say that was on Moose/

Yes, but all but the biggest Grossman backers would have to admit the drops were only partially the receivers' fault. Every one of those drops were balls that were thrown behind the receiver. That said, I can live with that; his ability to go ahead and not throw it to Seahawks D-backs was a welcome change.

I forgot the game would not have been as close either if he would have taken a sack but the defense didn't stop anyone all day and this is the reason why you needed Rex. Griese might not turn the ball over as much as BAD REX but he can't put points on the board as much as GOOD REX can.

Oh, I agree that Griese isn't the answer; he proved that in the Packers game, as far as I'm concerned. Not only that, but it's much too late to change QBs. So it's definitely sink-or-swim with Rex. My point is simply that Rex sucks, so it will be sink. He didn't get you killed today; congrats. But tomorrow brings another opportunity for Rex to go ahead and eff you in the A.

Vs. New Orleans, the concerns have to be McCallister/Bush moreso than the passing game, though the Saints have much more big play threats in the passing game than Seattle had.

I think the Bears run game in that game will be absolutely crucial in controlling the ball, keeping the clock running, and keeping the Saints offense off the field, and hopefully out of rhythm.

bears in trouble next week. rex was fine, no one shouldve expected more. ok,you blame the pick on the receiver, but it cancels out earlier in the game where the receiver saved a pick. offense isn't the problem though. they weree dammn lucky too. seattle really blew it, they had it in their hands

doug pissed in the postgame

I thought the offensive line for the most part was mediocre today. Other than the first drive, the Bears had trouble sustaining a running game and the past protection was lacking. All week I heard how the Bear offensive line would mash the small Seahawk defense. I didn't see it.

Grossman was the star of the game on the offense (along with R. Davis), if he had "managed" the game the Bears would have lost.

And if another team wants our defensive coordinator, fine. So far our defense has given up 29 and 24 points at home in playoff games the last two years. Is it the talent or coaching?

It's the coaching.

However, this is Lovie's defense, not Ron Rivera's. If he leaves, there really won't be a change in defensive philosophy unless the Bears bring in a proven defensive coordinator.

This defense just doesn't have the teeth it used to.

I agree with you, but it makes me wonder why Riviera is supposedly such a hot coaching prospect. If Rivera is basically a puppet with Lovie pulling the strings, then why would a team want to hire Rivera.

And i am losing my patience with the Cover Two defense. The safeties can't cover the receivers on the outside and on the second Alexander touchdown right up the middle on the draw the safeties were no where to be found.

Not sure if any of you are watching the Bolts/Pats game, but the Halftime cast give the Bears no chance. Nutrisystem, and Mushmouth say the Saints have too many weapons.

What will they say if the lowly Bears win?

Matt who do you want Rex or Griese? Do you agree that good Rex might lead the Bears to the SB? Griese has no chance

I want neither. I'm for them staying with Rex, but I also know that Rex will not string together three good games, and thus will prohibit any chance at a Bears SB victory. Not that it matters, because the sieve that is our defense would destroy any chance at a SB victory anyways.

Moving forward, I think the defense will be fine, assuming we get Harris back and perhaps pick some players up in the draft and/or free agency. Grossman, however, will continue to be a problem throughout next season. If they were smart, they'd recognize that now and plan accordingly. They're not smart, though, so we'll have a similar season next season, before collapsing as a franchise and missing the window on another rebuilding stint.

The Saints have the top passer in the league, and one of the best 1-2 combinations in the running game. The Bears couldn't stop the likes of Kitna or Rattay, so I hardly expect them to lock down the Saints offense. The Bears could win, sure, but I don't see how anyone could objectively view this matchup and expect it.

First off Matt, if you hate the Bears so much, why are you still a fan? Why do you spend 3 hours out of your Sunday if only to watch a bunch of losers play bad football?

The Cubs pissed me off to the point that I only watch AL baseball for my summer fix. I burned all my gear and refuse to set foot in Wrigley Field again. I think the Cubs have made more poor moves than the Bears, and
the Cubs have no committment to excellence. The Cubs like to be mediocre and just fill the seats with asses.

The Bears tandem have more yards that Douche and Bush, and I believe Rex can be just as good as Brees is.

Their performances this weekend were quite similar.

Yes, the Bears can lose this next game. But they can also win this next game and the SB for that matter.

Rex is the best thing the Bears have at this point, and to think that they woul dbe better with Griese this late in the season is not only disrespectful to the young QB, but senseless to do at this point. I expect the defense to struggle again in the Championship game, letting Bush and Deuce have huge games. Rex will do exactly what he did today, and that is "listening to his coach" and throwing short routes (with the occasional bomb attempt). The Bears are in trouble with New Orleans, but they have a LOT more to lose than Philly would have had they been the next opponent. The desire to make good on the "rebirth after Katrina" will be the Saints' worst nightmare and cost them the game.

Bears 31

Saints 28

They have more RUSHING yards. Bush also caught 88 balls for 742 yards. Benson and Jones don't come close to that. That's not a bad weapon to have...

Stupid board influenced tidbit for you kids. I watched the game at a bar with a bunch of people. When Grossman hooked up with Berrian for the long one, I utterred words "That's how we do things in sexy business" which drew odd uncomfortable looks. I didn't bother 'splaining since it was loud and I was busy watching the game.

You're welcome :)

That's already become a staple in my group of friends' lexicon. It's too goddamn good NOT to use, even in non-Rex related matters.

I don't hate them. But I am realistic about them, and I'm not such a kool-aid drinker to blind myself to the fact that they're exceedingly mediocre. On any given sunday, this team is capable of being the worst team in the NFL. They have a quarterback who had a sub-40 QB rating in 5 games this season.

Wow, that's a lot further than I went. Admittedly, I did consider burning my Cubs stuff at one point, but I didn't, and I'm glad for it. I did stop watching after May last year; and I haven't paid for a ticket in over 2 years. Still, I disagree that they aren't trying; they're just retarded. Not unlike the Bears.

Quote:

Not many. It's very close. But, as someone else pointed out, they throw to their backs more. Their tandem had more touchdowns.

Quote:

Perhaps, if he's having his very best game. You don't predict based on exceptions to the rule, though. Chances are, he wont.

Brees: 96.2 Rating, 4418yards, 26TD, 11int, 64.3comp.%
Rexy: 73.9 Rating, 3193yards, 23TD, 20int, 54.6comp.%

As you can see, Brees is far and away the superior QB (and, in fact, you can see that Rex isn't very good). I could see if you were hanging your hat on the Bears D, but let's face facts and admit that the Bears D is nothing to hang your hat on at this point.

Quote:

Indeed; I believe both games had the same score. The Saints played a better team that was red hot going in.

Quote:

They can; and I could win the lottery if I played. But I don't like the odds of either, so I'll continue not playing the lottery or picking the Bears. ;)

This is the same "fan" of the Bears that picked them to lose and when they didn't he still had a problem with them.

What, you didn't? They very narrowly eked a victory out over a team the entire board spent two weeks telling me was complete and utter garbage. At least half this board had the Bears destroying the Seahawks by a 10 point margin. Hell, the line was 9 points. Actually, you're the one that should have a problem; I actually don't. I'm happy I was wrong about my prediction, but unsurprised by the poor play. You should have the problem, given the fact that they fell so short of your expectations.

Quote:
At half time it was Rex has 7 for us and them even though the Bears had 21 points.

Rex giveth, and Rex taketh away; said that months ago, and it still holds true. He finally manages not to throw any interceptions for touchdowns, but he still has to fuck the dog via his patented backpedal technique (his law suit against Carmello Anthony is still pending) and give up the ball needlessly.

Fair enough, IMO. They share the blame an even 50/50 for that one.
