Doesn't make much sense to me. I guess he will be an extra OFer and 1B.

St. Louis is going for it but Berkman at 8M is a joke. He is DL waiting to happen.

Corey Hart for the Brewers must be sick, they are the same player and he just resigned with the Brewers for a hell of a lot less money and years than that.

The Angels are going to be pissed at what they are going to have to shell out for Crawford now.

The Nationals just took the Cubs out of the one team Augie Ojeda sweepstakes with this signing.

JaYson Werth is 31 yrs old and got 7yr/$126M and 31 yr old Adam Dunn got 4yr/$56M? I know JaYson is a better ballplayer but I'm not sure he's that much better. Mike Rizzo continues to defy logic.

I wouldn't say Werth is a better ballplayer. He did have a great season last year though. I wouldn't expect him to be close to as good as Dunn over the four years of Dunn's deal.

Werth's definitely a better ballplayer. He plays a very good right field, has a strong arm and can steal a base along with being able to get a big hit. I just don't think he's 3yr/$70M better.

Agree. Very good RF with plenty of pop. That contract seems excessive though.

The Brewers appear to have agreed to a deal with the Blue Jays to acquire Shaun Marcum for an undisclosed package of players.

I'm reading it's straight up for Brett Lawrie. Wow. When healthy Marcum is one of the nastier pitchers in the game but Lawrie is a 21 yr old 2nd baseman who can absolutely rake. Awfully high price to pay for a 29 yr old injury prone pitcher going into his second year of arbitration. I guess this means Rickie Weeks will be getting that contract extension.

Well, Dunn is twelve points better in adjusted OPS over their careers. I'm not sure if Ichiro's glove on a corner and Juan Pierre's steals can make up that difference. These guys didn't get the money they did because of anything other than their bats and Dunn has been a far superior offensive player. Now, if you think Werth's 2010 season was a harbinger of future success and that he has just come into his own, that's a different story. Personally, I'd bet that last year was his career year. And I'm confident Dunn will do what he's always done- at least for the next four seasons.

Keyser, I agree. I saw where they acquired him yesterday and I liked it. But, I read the paper this morning and saw what we gave up and was very surprised. Although, I am not sure Lawrie will be a 2nd baseman. He is a kid that can really hit, but I am not sure if he has a position.

While he's not quite the dog that Soriano is, this is one of the worst signings since Soriano signed his Cubs deal. Werth is a nice player but 126 million for him?? bad paper there.

The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to a deal to obtain slugging third baseman Mark Reynolds from the Arizona Diamondbacks in return for minor league prospects, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.

Arizona will receive right-handed pitching prospects Kam Mickolio and David Hernandez, the sources said.

The 27-year-old Reynolds has 121 homers in four major league seasons, all with Arizona. He also has struck out over 200 times each of the past three seasons, including a major league record 223 in 2009.

Last season Reynolds hit .198 with 32 homers and 85 RBIs.

Considering he will be unavailable for roughly ten years, picking up Hernandez is a surprising move by Arizona. He will be well past whatever prime he had as well.

I don't buy it for a second. There's nothing in the White Sox farm system right now.

Hard to believe Kenny was going to pony up $160M over 7 years, but stranger things have happened.

With Adrian Gonzalez going to Boston, as much as Adrian Beltre wants to stay in Red Sox colors, Kevin Youkilis might shift over from first base to third full time next year.

I heard that Beltre wanted to stay in Boston, but I think Anaheim's also in the market for a third baseman, too.

Beltre doesn't have a position in Boston anymore.

Word on the street is that the Nats might be offering Cliff Lee 200 M next.

The roster in 2012 could have Lee and Strasburg 1 and 2, and Werth and that young punk hitting 3-4, and they will still finish 4th in the division.
