Right now the Bears are 14-3 this season and about to play in the NFC Championship game. You'd never know if you had listened to local radio, read the paper, or talked with local fans at a bar the last 8-10 weeks though. Everyone seems so down on these guys. Sometimes it's been worthy criticism but it seems like the negative is all I hear anymore. Nobody seems to be enjoying what they've done this season and that sucks for me as a fan. That leads me to my question.

If the Bears win the Super Bowl, what are we going to remember and reminisce about afterwards? Everyone seems so intent on analyzing the negatives, I can only think of a couple of positives right now because all I hear is criticism all the time. If they win it, will we just talk about Good Rex/Bad Rex or the Tank Johnson legal issues? Or will we have some revisionist history, forget all the negative, and talk about the ass kicking we gave the 49ers and when Urlacher took over the game singlehandedly against Arizona? I want to enjoy the ride and have tried to stay away from all the negative talk this season but it has been very difficult.

That's an interesting question. I think it'll go the revisionist history route. We'll remember the good performances. If they win the SB, none of it will matter anyways. But there's no way anyone will be able to revise history in such a way that this team would ever be regarded as an all-time great; but that's the NFL this year. There's 4 teams left, and not a one of them is a great team. Imagine if the Colts won the SB; they'd win, but they'd do so with what is probably the worst team they've had in the last 3 years. The Saints are the only team that could win this year and have that truly magical feel to the season, but that's owing much more to the turnaround and the city's situation than just the team's play.

I listened to Buffone and Obradovich after the game and every caller was complaining and so were they.

For myself, I was so fucking happy they won that game Sunday. I jumped so high and yelled so loud when that fg went through in OT. I know they didn't play great, but that's the NFL Playoffs, each game is gonna be close.

I am enjoying it right now I can tell you that. IF they get to the SB, I dont know what I'm gonna do. Shit I am getting goosebumps even thinking about it!

After watching the Colts beat the Ravens and the Pats beat the Chargers, I completely believe in the old "any given Sunday" cliche.

The Saints look like a nightmare for the Bears to defense, but anything can happen. One team can dominate the game, but one or two key plays swing the game.

Who cares how they get there? Just get there.

Speaking for myself, the White Sox 2005 post season dominance spoiled me to the point that I now expect all Chicago playoff teams to steamroll the competition. I know it's unrealistic but that's the way it is from my perspective. I'd feel more comfortable heading into the next game if the Bears had completely decimated Seattle. They didn't, so I feel angst.

The Bears deserve credit for winning. That game played out as I expected....it was very close and was decided by a field goal. They WON the game by making the key plays when it counted. What's the point in bitching about it?

Maybe part of the problem here is that the local media consistently over-rates the Bears and under-rates the competition. As a result, too many people are led to believe every game should be a blowout. So when a game is close, those same self-proclaimed experts feel somehow the Bears didn't meet expectations because they weren't as dominant as they expected them to be.

Here are the facts. The Bears have not beaten a winning team by double digits since before Thanksgiving. There will be no more double digit wins this year. Every game will be close. Feel great they showed they can win a close game and that they have a money kicker. The only thing the Bears lost on Sunday was the cover. They are in the Championship game. Enjoy it.

I didn't hear the whole question, but Brown's response was, "who had the number #1 defense in the league?" Someone answered, "the Ravens". Brown shot back, "and where are they now?" "Their at home watching from their couches."

Yes there are some holes in this team, and yes they can be beat next Sunday, but they are the number 1 seed at 13-3. The Saints were 10-6 and are the number 2 seed.

I'm happy where the Bears are now and am looking forward to Sunday's game with nervous anticipation.

If they lose the sun will still rise and MattintheCrown will still hate Rex Grossman. If they win, Chicago will be going apeshit, and Mattinthe Crown will still hate Rex Grossman.

Before the season, were people saying they needed to take the next step or get to the Super Bowl? If it is the next step, this year is a success, if it's not, then they might be sorely disappointed.

So at 14-4, we should be shitting ourselves not crying about how bad they are playing!
