THere is a strong chance U of M is not ready for Monday and they would be looking to play in Indy. I could be talked into making the trip if they give away tickets like they did last week. Anyone want to caravan?

I'd actually be up for going, potentially...if I could get the next day off at work. Four hour drive tops, indoor stadium, free tickets...certainly.

When will we know what's going on? This is an excellent board get-together idea if the details are right...

It's a 3 hour drive maximum and can probably be made in 2.5 in the right conditions. Even if you stay for the whole game, you figure to be back home between 1-2 am. Get a couple hours of sleep and you are good to go for work during a farily dead week.

This would really be the best case scenario for the Bears. They play well on turf and would most likely be playing in front of a home crowd.

The best case scenario is Patrick Ramsey getting the start for the Queens

How easy was it to get tickets last week though? I'm not making that long of a trek to get shut out because the line is already full of people that want 4 hours of indoor plumbing and heat.

Due to all of this rampant speculation the NFL and TCF Stadium officials have tried emphasize that the plan is to play the game at TCF.

A 4th panel at the Metrodome has collapsed tonight and they were forced to stop repair work as a precaution.

I think they're gonna have a hard time getting this thing ready for the playoffs.

How the hell can you build an outdoor football stadium in Minnesota without any heat?

I realize they shut things down in mid-November but I remember being in tropical Champaign-Urbana for home games that were below-0 wind chills. Seems like the Gophers cheaped out so they could have a kick-ass band room.

That's what I was thinking Doc. How much more expensive would it have been to "winterize" a new built stadium. The incremental cost had to be nothing. Why did not have sufficient foresight to think there would be some demand for winter events, especially with the NHL encouraging outdoor games. One Gopher hockey game a year probably would have payed for the cost.

Because people in Minnesota are fucking morons. They played baseball inside and on carpet for decades.

At least there is an NFL game to possibly watch there. Unlike some other mid-west entertainment hubs like Wausau.

The NFL screwed this up. They can't play in this dump. The field is gonna be concrete and fans are gonna be pissing on blocks of ice in the urinals.

I know the Vikings don't want to lose two home game gate money, but they're dumping 700k to try to fix this field.

If they would have announced this game was in Indy on Sunday they could have actually sold tickets and it would have been damn near a sell out. Lots of people would have bought tickets from Chicago and there are a lot of Bears fans in down state Illinois. The Colts would have agreed to give 70% of the consessions and ticket sales to the Vikings. They keep 30% for expenses of having a game and paying employees. It's better than spending 700k to fix this dump and only having 50 thousands seats.

Now if it's in Indy, it would be last minute for people and it might not be a sellout if they do in fact charge.

They just finished clearing the field to find two inches of solid ice with significant snow on the way.

I expect the Players Association to play the Player Safety Card shortly.

I think this is the Trump Card in the Vikings quest to address a new stadium. Lose the battle, win the war.
