So wouldn't it be better for them not to be clearing a field they can't play on and complain to the city/league that the city is losing money and they are losing home games? Why the effort here?

Well, if what Beardown posted is true - that Indy will give the Vikings a big cut of the gate and concessions, I think that it seems like a pretty viable option in the eyes of the decision-makers. That is if there are any decision-makers here...

there is no way this game should be in indy. if i cant be in minnesota, it needs to be on a more neutral field. the bears shouldn't be awarded essentially another home game during the playoff push based on the misfortunes of the other team and their stadium. i felt the same way after katrina when the giants were given another home game hosting the saints. there are dozens of other stadiums to choose from, they shouldn't choose one that close to chicago.

If the Vikings were fighting for a playoff spot I could see why they would fight for home field. I would agree with the efforts of trying to clear the college stadium. Since they're out of it, they should have announced it was in Inday last Monday night.

 awsome mofo. And Detroit was a lot more convenient for the Giants, and I'm sure you were fine with that.

Tear the rest of the roof off of the Metrodome and play the game there. Problem solved.

It is not the Bears fault that the fans will travel to watch them play.

I'm wondering if they have actually discussed the possibility of playing the game in Lambeau, as previously mentioned. That does seem like a pretty neutral site.

Has the bird's nest in China crumbled since the Olympics yet? Thats an available neutral site as well.

If its a dome, play in Atlanta. MNF on the 27th is at the Georgia Dome as well.

Clayton said the Vikes first choice of a neutral field was St. Louis but St. Louis said no.

If they have it in Atlanta or Dallas or Indy, it's going to be majority Bears fans.

Did you hear all the Packer fans for the Falcons/Packer game? Bear fans are everywhere. Anywhere outside of St. Paul is going to be a Bears home game.

Play it in Arizona - Scottsdale is full of Chicago snowbirds - including mel senior.

StL has a game there the day before. As does Dallas.

That would make for an awesome game. The fans hate both teams. They probably hate the bears more because of the playoff implications, but then again the hatred for brett could negate that. This game has so much more potential being there instead of in some god damn boring as shit dome.

Exactly - I don't see what the problem is, and they would make money out of the deal if they hosted the game :?

driving from new york to detroit is a bit different than driving from chicago to indy. check out a map sometime. a bears fan can drive to indy, catch the game, and get to work the next day. a little different scenario.

by the way, did you see the crowd in detroit for that game? neither team had crowd support.

Granted, FOX televised both games at Ford Field last week but I still think it could be done. Trouble is, ESPN is going to have their crews and equipment there and if they move the game to somewhere like Atlanta, they need to get those trucks on the road headed south like starting right now.

mofo, I was talking about the travel for the Giants. Much easier for them to go from Detroit back home than say from Arizona back home. Try looking at a map sometime.

sure, there are bears fans everywhere and they will likely outnumber a non-competetive viking teams fans, but pick a neutral field that is not in the back yard of the "visiting" team.

The Giants once got a 9th home game when the Saints had to play their home game in NY after Katrina. It's happened before. So playing in Indy is a little better than just giving the Bears the game at Soldier Field.

Can you read mofo? Apparently not, because I am not talking about the fans.

im trying to find the post where i said ANYONE should go to arizona. the point is that you pick a city that is at least somewhat in neutral territory.

Hey, why didn't they try to play this game at the Twins new stadium. I'll bet they have better fan accomodations than the Gopher stadium. The field is bigger than Wrigley so they could fit a football field on it. Especially to left center. It's real deep out there.

If the Gopher's new stadium doesn't have a heated field, a team that never plays past the first weekend in October will not have a heated field either.

  mofo really? They have 60K tickets sold for this game, but lets move it to a place with a little more than 1/4 of the capacity? Wow

yeah. But the Twins have grass, not artificial turf. So it wouldn't be like concrete. Twins park seats close to 50k just like the Gopher stadium.

Setup the Target Center where the T-Wolves play and do this game with Arena League rules.

The Bears just recently got a heated field when they redid the stadium. It used to not be heated when they had grass in the late 80s and 90s. So they played on a frozen grass turf a lot which tells me it's better than frozen turf. Twins park would be better!!!!! I win!!!! :P

This idea sucked the first time it was suggested.
