There are a lot of "good" teams that have luck. I'd be willing to say that 99% of all 10+ win teams end up playing a couple of really shitty teams during the year. Every team deals with injuries. It happens, and the teams that end up making the playoffs take advantage of those breaks. For the most part, the Bears have.

So would you be happy if they get bounced in round 1?

Que? Where did I say or even insinuate that?

The point a few of us are making is last night's win, although impressive, merely gives them the opportunity to prove what they are all about in the playoffs. And frankly, they have a ways to go, starting with the Jets, before they will have accomplished anything substantive this season. Getting giddy over winning the NFC North this season is a joke. They won it, now let's see what they are really made of, players and coaches. I will reserve my excitement for some meaningful wins and winning out will set the table for that. Let's hope they can do that.

I would be happy to see your head bounce off the frozen field turf in Minny.

Last night was just a step. You have to make the playoffs to play in the playoffs. It should be celebrated and then we move on. Are you going to pull a Bernstein and tell us that we should only be excited after a Super Bowl victory? I get excited after each win, and then move on to the next game.

If they dominate the Jets - a worthy opponent - I will be excited. Beating the shit out of a team that clearly quit was merely a Bear team taking care of business. So for me, it was a workmanlike victory with little emotion. People act like they won a fucking Round 2 playoff game and will now host the NFC Championship!

cpguy, you really think the Jets are a worthy opponent?

I think they're an above the middle of the pack team.

Just like the Bears.

I think the Eagles are a better team and the Bears played very well against them and won.

The Bears are right up there with the better teams in the league, not the best, but the good ones. I just think a lot of people don't like Lovie and Co. and wanted him to lose and this made it tough for these fans to admit the Bears were any good.

Pretty much there are a lot of fans out there who carry on like Silky D and Douchebag Hub.

The Jets have something to play for (unlike the Vikings). The Eagles are clearly better than the Jets but as I'm sure you know, the Bears victory over the Eagles doesn't mean they automatically beat the Jets. WTF? The Jets are an animal fighting to survive so it will be a battle, not like last night's half ass effort by the Vi-Queens.

I was just curious about why they were considered "worthy".

Of course beating the Eagles doesn't mean they automatically beat the Jets.

I hope they are more than middle of the road and want to see them win in the playoffs. Glad to see you are not annointing them Kings after last night victory like some of the people on here. Enough already. You (giddy fans) want to crown their ass - then crown 'em. LOL!

Who are the truly superpower teams right now? Are there any out there? Ones that destroy lesser opponents and simply beat everyone else decisively? I really don't think there are any so the Bears have just as a good a shot as anyone else. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Super Bowl, not because they are a world beater but because of the "parity" in the league. Again, still a good team but a good team in this NFL era is different from a good team several years ago.

I'm glad Chris Harris is filling holes.

The Pats are the only team possibly in an elite category this year. I agree that the parity this season is unparalled and that the Bears could indeed make it to the Super Bowl and even win it. The Steelers when healthy are formidable as well and the Chargers can be tough to beat too, but that's about it. The Falcons can't be overlooked as a possible "team of destiny" "feel good story" type of team however.

Good pick up for sure. They never should have traded him in the first place. Very stupid as he was a "glue guy" with an attitude.

I don't think anyone could tell you which two teams are going to play in the Super Bowl. And if someone did, I'd say they just guessed and got lucky.

Isn't that a benchmark of everyone who has found Jesus later in life?

I am not a Lovie Smith fan overall, but I have to give him and his staff a LOT of credit for getting this team to where they are now.

Also, maybe a little love for Mike Tice? To say this is a patchwork OLine is really over stating it. Since the Giants game, outside of a couple of series against the Eagles, overall this OLine has been fairly solid.

Well Frank, until they actually do dominate the playoffs, and win a Super Bowl, this dumb motherfucker will continue to bitch.

You predicted 0-17 in the thread in the Bears forum.

cpguy had no prediction, but I refuse to believe he had this team pegged for ANY more than 7 or 8 wins.

The idea that you prepare for a guy listed as out is moronic, which coming from Hub is to be expected.
