The Illini started off 3-13 last night from the field.

Then someone realized they were playing with a women's ball.

Heard this on the news this morning. That's hysterical. I think they went almost 8 minutes with the wrong ball.

This must have been what happened in the latest CSFMB Hoops videos. Only viable explanation to the missed shots.

Exactly. CoF replaced your usual women's ball with a men's.

I see the Illini have moved from 146th in team rebounding last week to
176th in the country this week. This is going to kill them in league play.

Good news for the Illini hoopsters with a game against Mizzou next Wed......

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri point guard Michael Dixon has been suspended indefinitely for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Wednesday's action means the sophomore starter won't play Thursday night when the 13th-ranked Tigers host Oral Roberts.

Dixon is averaging 10.7 points and a team-leading 4.3 assists. He scored a season-high 17 points in Missouri's 111-102 loss to Georgetown on Nov. 30 and is one of two players to have started every game.

Freshman Phil Pressey has been backing up Dixon and it's expected he'll get increased playing time.

Coach Mike Anderson gave no hint when Dixon might be allowed to return. Anderson would not disclose the violation.

Is Phil Pressey the son of former NBAer Paul Pressey?

Pretty sure he is, let me see what I can dig up. I know he had a son that was a pretty
decent recruit recently.

Edit : This is confirmed, although he is only 5'10. His pops was about 6'5 so I was a
little surprised he was so much smaller.

well, we did have an accident with a Baiden ball that wasn't as good as the Evolution for about 5 minutes...

Weber is also going to get a commitment today from Devin Langford, a guard from Alabama that is somewhere between 6'5" and 6'7", to make it the 5th guy in their 2011 class.

I don't think they plan to do much of anything for 2012 recruiting.

He's obviously the UPS guy's kid.

Ouch, that was a definite wake up call. I guess that is what happens
when a jump shooting team can't hit their jumpers. Will be interesting
to see how they respond this week.

What was interesting was how a man to man team went to the NU 1-3-1 zone and basically stifled the Illini for minutes on end.

UIC was in the 1-3-1 when Illinois launched their big comeback too and went up 7. I think this is getting way overplayed.

Fact is, this is a jump shooting team. That's unfortunate in some ways, since you'd like to have one dominant player underneath. But I say so long as this is a jump shooting team, I want to see them put up way more threes. Some days you'll miss, but those 18 foot shots do nothing for you. Back up four feet and take it.

It wouldn't hurt if Tisdale and Leonard realized that playing defense actually requires moving your feet and not fouling people.

Or if Mike Davis came to play at least every other game instead of every fifth game as he does now. What did he have? 1 rebound?

I think the Davis situation takes care of itself as Richmond gets more time at the four. Tisdale, Leonard, and Griffey are 800 pounds of big dopey white guy, though Leonard is a freshman so he'll improve.

Still, my plan is easy to implement. Take two steps back and then shoot. 50% increase in points.

The intentional foul call was terrible. No question. Awful.

But the technical made it way, way worse. And the tech came after another series of plays, it wasn't even a "reaction" type thing.

That was my first reaction to it, but by the letter of the law he made no attempt at the ball just pushed him in the back.

Yeah, I get that, but if he really did "push" him in the back he ends up on his head. He ended up on two feet, not even starting to lose his balance.

It wasn't an intentional foul, but whatever. Shouldn't have been a foul there at all. Stupid play. Chances are they lose regardless.

Good game, Mizzou. It's a shame that a school with such great athletics is left clinging like a whore to Texas's trousers for survival.

Also, fellow Illini fans on the internets, there's a reason why slow dopey white people aren't getting more playing time, so stop bitching about how Tyler Griffey would make this team more LEADERSHIP and INTENSITY. He couldn't stay within the same zip code of his man on defense.
