GD playing the contrarian. I like it. I agree. Just waiting for +3s to show. I expect they will.

Ferentz is good at getting his team ready for bowl games, and I know there was talk over the weekend about Blaine Gabbert, Mizzou's QB, being a first round pick, but last year against Navy only put up 13 points in their loss at the Texas Bowl.

I think with the way Iowa ended their season with some bad losses to Northwestern and Minnesota, I think Missouri wins, seems a little diffrent Missouiri team and I like the Tigers win tonight, it will be a late one.

And if that happens, you can truly say Iowa's season was 'Up in Smoke'

Good luck Vince. Don't embarrass the Big Ten posse tonight.

They did and I didn't. I got caught in a stupid conversation with an in law and missed kickoff by a few minutes.

At least the Big Ten won't get shut out this year. Could it be 2008 all over again?

Congrats on the win last night Vince. I do not know that I have ever seen a team that wins/loses games in such strange fashions on a continual basis. That young RB is going to be a dandy.

That was a great performance against a really good team. Ferentz did a great job preparing the team with a ton of distractions.

Kirk Ferentz took a beating after going easy on the Hawkeyes before the 2003 Orange Bowl. They came into that game woefully unprepared for the Trojans, as well as the heat and humidity in Florida. He went from that game and changed how he does bowl prep and is now 5-2 in bowl games since then including 1 BCS win and 3 additional January 1 wins.

This year will be one that I remember as frustrating but at least beating a quality Mizzou team in a bowl game is a highlight and hopefully can springboard them into 2011.

One key fact that while the defense will look completely different next year - the offense should be in good shape with their entire OL returning and their QB having game experience. Be interesting to see if any of the juniors leave. Sash and McNutt asked for evaluations. I don't think either are top3 round picks but I'm not Mel Kiper. I'll wait for IB to tell me.

It should come as no surprise but Adam Robinson was dismissed today from the team pending drug charges.

http://thegazette.com/2011/01/03/adam-r ... ball-team/

Running back Adam Robinson has been dismissed from the Iowa football team, coach Kirk Ferentz said today.

Robinson, 21, a sophomore from Des Moines, was charged with possession of marijuana on December 27. The Iowa State Patrol said Robinson was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over for not having front plates. Police said a trooper detected a marijuana odor from the vehicle, then found marijuana after a search.

Robinson was released with a promise to appear in court Jan. 5.

Ferentz indicated he would have no further comment.

Robinson rushed for a team-high 941 yards and 10 touchdowns despite missing two games because of concussions. But he didn’t start the first quarter of a 20-17 loss to Ohio State on Nov. 20 because of what Ferentz dubbed “academic indigestion.” He was left off the roster for Tuesday night’s Insight Bowl against Missouri (10-2) for failing to comply with team expectations and policies.

DJK pled guilty to one possession charge and other charges were dismissed. He has to stay clean for one year and it will be removed from his record. Word is he is training where Hester and Knox train in the Chicago area.

I don't know if this will happen, but I think I read or heard last week that Adam Robinson wanted to be back on the team.

He had grade problems before this anyway. My guess is that he will not be allowed back on the team regardless of his desires. Kirk cannot be seen as soft on drug issues especially given the DJK situation. he needs to get his grades back in order first before he can think about anything. I'll predict he ends up at UNI.
