in our neverending quest to shut down kobe Bryant, put him out of business, and no doubt crown Jordan as the greatest ever, we can't fuckin wait for Bryant to retire

in a recent interview, he said retirement is "not around the corner, but it's down the street"...this makes sense considering his increasing reliance on his teammates and his increasing tendency to flail badly when trying to take over...at times he is a turnover machine when driving to the hoop

so, based on this interview and what youve seen of him as a player the last couple years, how many years do u think he has left?

I'm gonna say 4 or 5, max...2 or 3 of those in which he will still be a solid, more or less great player

I hear voices in my head.
They counsel me. They understand.
They talk to me.

You'll know it's Kobe's last season when he texts a pic of his dick to Big Chief Triangle's girlfriend.

It doesn't mean we want Kobe to retire. I used to be a big Kobe hater in the late 90's because he was a complete MJ knockoff. But during the early 2000's I learned to respect his skills and he became my favorite player. He was must see tv for a while. Is he better or even as good as Jordan? Absolutely not but he's been the best player since MJ

I think he has maybe 2 or 3 more solid high level years left.

The Jordan conversation ended forever when he was bested by Paul Pierce in the finals.

Kobe is still a borderline top 5 all time NBA player.

Who said Kobe is on the verge of passing MJ as the best ever? I am a huge MJ fan and could care less what Kobe does in LA. My opinion is he is the best ever and their is nothing Kobe can do to change that.

well then we've heard all we need to hear from you....(and it's there, not "their")

I think Jordan is better. But Kobe is not done and could very well surpass him in championships won. He's not done playing. He very well could surpass Jordan but glad to know there's nothing he can do to change your opinion.

I don't think that would matter though. Jordan doesn't even have the record for championships won.

If Kobe had never played with Shaq then maybe that would matter but I will never consider Kobe the best player on those teams. That was Shaq in his prime.

so you feel they could have substituted another competent 2 guard for Kobe and still won the titles?

If by competent you mean All-Star level then yes. Nearly all championship teams need at least two All-Stars.

I think they could have won at least 2 of those titles during that time frame without Kobe. The 2 guard would still need to be All Star Caliber, but I don't think they needed another Superstar. The talent level was a little lacking during that timeframe in the league. The Bulls were done, the Jazz were done, this was pre-Lebron era. Other than the Spurs, not many teams in the league would have scared me. The East was just garbage. The Pacers, Sixers, and Nets all made the finals.

Shaq also may have been the most dominant player since Wilt during that time period too. There were very few players that could even control him a little.

i agree that the East was subpar, so yes, when they made the Finals it was a guaranteed win

that said they still had to get out of the West which was extremely tough at the time

for example the year they beat the 76'ers, the Lakers had to beat the Blazers, Kings & Spurs on the way.

Yeah, but they had the refs on their side.

With the exception of the Sixers I believe those were the best teams in the league for a while there. Some epic playoff battles were fought

also keep in mind Shaq cannot create his own shot and is one of the worst FT shooters of all time. he needed Kobe. maybe it's the chicken/egg argument but Shaq could not have won those titles alone

maybe, maybe not

but Shaq was no doubt the reason they were even in the finals

and he was the Finals MVP all 3 years...as much as Kobe hated it, it was Shaq's team when it came to winning the titles
