I missed baby humans somewhere.

All I saw was baby steak salad, which I took to mean baby cow.

Went to Once Upon a Grill in Northbrook and had an omlette with turkey pastrami, onion and swiss cheese and half a bialy and a glass of water. A little heavier than what I've been eating all week, but I have a practice tonight at 7:30 and then I play in a game right after at 8:30 so trying to get a little more energy today.

Will eat a turkey sandwich and carrot sticks for dinner and then an apple after I get home from hockey.

How is Chick-Fil-A's soup?

Actually fairly good. Thick noodles, lots of chicken, not heavy on salt. They have a side salad and soup combo (#11). I highly recommend the berry balsamic dressing.

Went to Anton's.....brought back a bowl of chicken chile and a container of green beans in some sort of tomato base and also added a very little bit of parmesan pasta cause I have a game tonight and wanted at least a little carbs. Topped it all off with a bottle of water. Also bought a bunch of apples for the weekend.

Tonight's chili recipe:

2 lbs ground beef (one 93/7, one 80/20 to get some fat)
2 cans tomato sauce
1 large yellow onion
4 cloves garlic
1 bottle Sam Adams Boston Lager
One red pepper, chopped
One yellow pepper, chopped
One habanero, chopped
Chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper, hot sauce all to taste (I left it in the medium category)
One splash Famous Dave's Devil's Spit BBQ sauce (I like the smoky addition)

Cooking directions:
Soften onion and garlic with some olive oil
Add peppers and soften slightly
Add and brown beef
add beer, tomato sauce, and a conservative amount of seasonings...simmer for 30 minutes

Taste and adjust seasonings, simmer for another 30-40 minutes.

Corn bread to go with it.

Today the GF, a guest and I headed to Galena. We at at the Courtyard at the DeSoto Hotel. I won't be going to the Courtyard again. The GF had a French dip and split pea and ham soup. Just so-so. The hot bread brought to the table was actually cold on the inside.

I had Pasta DeSoto (rotini with asparagus, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, and alfredo sauce). Instead of giving the tips of the asparagus, I was given the thick ends. A little disappointing. The cream of blue cheese soup was excellent.

Our guest ordered a burger and did tell the waitress he wanted cheese. When the burger came out it did not have cheese. Instead of offering to correct this, the waitress repeated five times that he said he did not want cheese. Just fix the damn burger and don't argue with your customers.

Now I get it. The wife wouldn't have been caught dead in Galena, right?

edit: wait just a damn second. You expect us to believe you drove all the way to Galena (3 hours+?) just for a lunch? Galena isn;t exactly known for it's food.

Guest? The wife, or the other girlfriend?

And, do you ever have lunch at home?

The guest was a longtime friend who just graduated with an MA and likes to go exploring. And no, we didn't just go for lunch (but we did come back in the evening). Wife's been to Galena a few times - so?

I eat lunch and dinner at home frequently (though it might not seem that way). Tomorrow the GF and I are entertaining some business company - probably heading to Chinatown. :puker:

Today I went with a bowl of chicken chili from Anton's and a salad and a bottle of water.

Although today I mixed it up a bit. Last time I was at anton's I saw a woman mix the chili with the chicken enchilada soup and I was like wtf and she said it was really good...so today I gave it a shot and low and behold the filthy whore was right. If I ever see her again I'm gonna spit in her face and kick her in the tits.

My ex wife was a big fan of that line.

I never actually called her that to her face...I didn't know she was screwing around on me until after the divorce
