The Bears are pretty stacked at LB - Urlacher, Briggs and Tinoisamoa are the starters (Tinoisamoa will be in a battle), and Hillenmeyer, Roach and Tim Shaw fill out the roster. Everything I read says no Jamar Williams for next season already and the backups have to be on special teams so a guy like Pierce, coming off back surgury, is not likely to end up here, and, in a way, Tinoisamoa is our version of Pierce.
I'd hardly call the Bears "stacked" at linebacker. While Briggs is very good, Urlacher is clearly on the decline, and Tinoisamoa may be as well. Hillenmeyer, Roach and Shaw are just a bunch of guys.
I think this is one position where they have at least one Pro Bowl player, maybe another if Urlacher can return at a high level, and while the other spot will be filled by stop gap players, how many teams in the league have a guy as good as Briggs, and then a 2nd guy like Urlacher?
Shaw had a very good season on special teams, and while I agree with you that Tinoisamoa, Hillenmeyer, and Roach are just guys, they at least have plenty of experience at the position and provide depth.
It's just not a position that I'm very concerned about.
