Were any of the "New Age" Roasts ever that great? I know a lot of them have some moments, but overall I think most of them deserve apathy.

I watched a little of it, most of it wasn't funny. Basically all these roasts are the same, make fun of Lisa Lampanelli's vagina and how much she likes black guys. Can't they get any new material? It gets old quick.

Anyways, isn't a roast supposed to be hosted and filled with people that actually KNOW the person being roasted, or at least know them a little bit?

What the fuck is The Situation doing there? Snoop Dog? 3/4 of all the other "Roasters"? It seems, and I may be wrong, that they get the some collection of roasters together for these, whether they know the person or not, and let them have at it. The Bob Sagat one was pretty decent, but most of the others are pretty shitty, especially Trump, Pam Anderson etc.

I miss Greg Geraldo even more after that shitfest. Situation has indeed entered his post-15 minutes of fame. Marlee matlin shocked me with her schtick, then Gilbert godfried had to ruin it. Maybe Geiko really fired him for that! Snoop and Matlin very funny, the rest - keep 'em.

The gene Simmons roast was more brutal though - now we know why Andrew dice clay fell off the face if the earth - he sucks the chrome off a trailer hitch. Oh!

I thought there were some funny moments:

The Situation had one of the worse attempts at comedy I can remember and I grew up watching Night at the Apollo. Dude wasn't even fun bad

I had never seen any of these roasts, so I hopped around on YouTube looking at various clips, particularly of this dead comedian the Trump roasters were referencing, Greg Giraldo. After seeing the following clip of him roasting Joan Rivers, I am sad that he died...he was brutally funny.
