I never said they were or did.

I never said they did.

Glad you told me it's a Rockstar game. Now I won't bother even looking at it. Not that I think their games suck. It just seems that every game they make has the same feel to me so basically I feel like I've already played it and I don't feel like wasting my time on it. It's different if it were a game series (GTA). I expect it to be familiar. But I'm guessing I can get this game and it'll feel like I'm playing GTA all over again. Meh, not horrible, but not worth the $$ for me.

If you didn't...that's as close as you can get.

Um, no. It really isn't.

I'm saying that that quote has nothing to do with what you're saying.
I never said Midnight Club and Max Payne are like GTA/Red Dead and I never even mentioned Team Bondi, much less made a claim about there contributions to GTA or Red Dead.

I'm not really sure what your issue is. If you don't understand my opinion, that's fine. But I can still have it.

Played LA for about 2 hours last night. So far so good. There's definitely a sandboxy GTA feel to it when you're driving around, except you can't do most of the fun things you could do in GTA or even RD:R, which is fine because it's a different game and all, but in the back of your mind you feel like you want to be able to do more. You drive to the next place you want to investigate or else you respond to a call.

I must be the worst cop ever because in the 3 "side quests" I've responded to so far I've passed, but left a trail of bodies in my wake. 1st: perp has hostage, I'm to immobilize the perp. Result: dead perp. 2nd: apprehend guy running away on foot. Result: guys takes header of roof and dies before I get him. 3rd: perps have cop hostage, save cop. Result: everybody dies. It's kinda funny though after every one it says you pass, and then there's a cut scene with a body being loaded into a coroner's wagon and your partner has this "nice job idiot" look on his face.

Cool, man. I figure there ain't much replay value in the LA Noire. Any chance we can arrange a trade after you are done? It's 360, right?

Indeed, would be nice to able to download the bonus cases eventually, but I won't be done anytime soon. The city is pretty damn big too.

The face animations are as good as they said they are. They make the interrogations work pretty well. A slight complaint is there are only 3 choices, lie, doubt, and truth. Truth is straight forward enough choice but doubt and lie kind of run together and it makes it difficult to decide. Now I think game-wise "lie" is probably also straight forward choice, but sometimes it doesn't feel right. Spoilerlessly, there's an investigation where you're interviewing someone you know didn't do it and they're grieving. On one question you're pretty sure the response is a lie, but you want to just go with "doubt" because you look like a huge asshole for calling them a liar. Now you can say in an investigation you aren't concerned with that, but I'd also think being belligerent isn't the right way to go.

Well as far as I can tell I'm guessing he's supposed to be the good cop, but we'll see as the WWII flashbacks progress.

LA:N overheats systems.

Quote:
Sony has told us unequivocally that there is no issue with its 3.61 firmware update. Earlier today it was thought that the update, which was released to upgrade security on the console, was causing units to overheat following complaints from some LA Noire players.

"As with the release of any System Update, we will invariably see a very small number of users whose console has failed following updating their console, which is an unfortunate coincidence" Sony explains.

The company pointed to Rockstar's recently published workaround as an admission of blame for the overheating problem, which has now spread to Xbox 360 consoles too.

"Rockstar have now updated their FAQ on the matter, have admitted that it is a fault with their latest title LA Noire and have offered a workaround," says Sony. "It should also be noted that the issue with this title is not PS3 specific and is also affecting other consoles."

Really enjoy the voice acting, they need to work on the way it flows together in interrogations though. Cole will be nice and quiet for a few questions, but you go with "lie" and he goes from zero to asshole instantly. It's good for that one question but there's no build-up, like he only got 2 speeds.

I may not be in the majority on this, but destructive evironments in multiplayer isn't something that will make or break my enjoyment with the game.

As long as the guys that are paid to write the reviews say it's good, then I'm OK with it.

Out of curiosity, is it at all possible to "patent" or "copyright" an element in a video game as specific as destructive multiplayer environments?

This totally changes dynamics of FPS. In most FPS, the map stays the same. You use the same choke points and same tactics. When you can blow a hole in a wall or take a sniper down by collapsing a building around him, now that is just amazing. If you've played a good deal of BFBC1 or 2, you know this is a big deal. Unfortunately, the bigger the maps gets, the tougher it is to take advantage of this feature. Unlike IMU, I thought BFBC2 had the perfect sized maps... not too big and not too small. And the 32v32 just seems way too ridiculously large. It's hard to coordinate 12 people in an offensive, let alone 32.

Well, I actually did play a good amount of BFBC2, and I still really didn't see much of a difference in overall gameplay value with destructive environments. I mean... everything you are saying makes perfect sense. However I think if the weapons/strategy for a map is sound, then the usual "chokepoints" become more of an objective than a hinderance on the game.

That's another way to look at it, I suppose. After playing a Battlefield game, the COD maps just seem waaaaay too confining.

By the way, did anyone download the new Black Ops maps? That Zoo one is a blast.

I'm getting it. Nothing more fun than blowing stuff up in the last game. I hear the multiplayer is better. I kinda expected a forgettable story line, so not too surprised by that view. The game looks great.

LA Noire Rockstar Pass $10 (and whatever that is in XBox points) until June 14th... comes with 4 cases (2 as of yet be released) and 4 pre-order outfits.

A friend of mine is interested in this game. I'd tell him to pass on it but I know a couple of you bought it and played a little. Has anyone put a good amount of time into it that can give a solid rundown on it?

I've beaten it. I enjoy it...it could have been a lot better in many areas, but it is still something different than anything else out there...and I highly recommend it for fans of detective stories and noir films.

A couple things. How long did it take to finish the whole game... and did you think it was challenging at all or more or less an interactive movie?

anyone? no?

ok....

Also looking forward to Operation Flashpoint: Red River (PC) It got shit reviews, but I'm a sucker for tactical shooters. The last one got shit reviews as well but I still enjoyed it... A game where 300 meters feels like close quarters

I played Infamous 2 for somewhere around 2.5 or 3 hours last night. It delivers. While you don't start off quite as strong at the beginning of the game as you left off at the end of Infamous 1, it is close. The ways to unlock powers is a lot more fun...and the many variants of each power is a cool something that the original was missing. Definitely a more polished game, I hope the story and gameplay remains as strong throughout.

I haven't unwrapped my copy yet, but the review on Gamespot is a little worrisome. They gave it a 7.5 and said its a step back from the original.

Hate to admit it, but I am pretty disappointed with what I saw in regard to the Wii U console.

It looks like nothing more than the exact same system with the obvious differences in HD compatability and the tablet controller. I'm also not so sure how this system is going to be any more "user-friendly" than the previous Wii.

I agree though Nintendo has shown that they always put together a quality console worth the money. Better online play and HD is enough to get me to buy it.

The more I read about the Wii U, the more I'm skeptical...only one tablet controller can be used per system...still doesn't sound like they are doing a unified online system, instead forcing each dev to create their own network...

Stuff like Mario and Zelda in HD will mean that I will buy this, but it will probably still play second fiddle to the 360 for me...
