Peavy over Jackson? It was a two part question , I know that might be a little tough for you

There has got to be more to this Rios "announcement". Kenny says he told Ozzie not to worry about salary. Put the best team out there that can win. Rios has sucked but you could bat him ninth, hope he plays solid defense like he's suppose to, and protect the pitchers. That would be a better option than ever playing Dunn. Especially against lefties. Cant hit. Cant run. Cant field.

I'm for benching Rios but how can you do that and not park Dunn? Shit, you can DH Pierre or Carlos (if he stays) and play defense. I think any scmuck from AAA can hit what Dunns hitting.

Just kinda glanced thru this thread, but I'm with Keyser. I don't really like this trade just in a sense that I think they could have gotten a bit of a better haul for Jackson.

Keyser, they've now got to find an emergency starter for the finale of the Red Sox series this weekend in the wake of this deal, let alone when the Yankees visit "The Cell" next week. After tomorrow's off day, the White Sox play 17 games in a row before their next scheduled off day.

Don't forget KW has Doug Davis ready in the sticks!

Did you include getting rid of Teahan

Thats part of what the Sox GET

Giving Teahan all that cash was a huge mistake. He must have read the Jim Hendry "How To" Guide of being a GM.

The White Sox get back a B level prospect in Stewart for Jackson, about what I thought they would get. Stewart is probably in the rotation by next season, and maybe sooner.

Getting rid of Teahan's contract was also a good move. Williams made a bad decision in rushing to sign him.

Frasor is regarded as very good reilever so they aren't giving up on the season, yet.

All they did, in my opinion, was move back to a 5 man rotation and add another good reliever to the mix.

Upon hearing the news, Peavy fell down, got a big boo boo and is now headed to the DL. Afterwards, he ripped the team for not having the fire and the passion.

I think the Sox were stunned that they let him go for nothing rather than pulling him back.

Kenny played chicken and lost big time >> 60 million fucking dollars. Worst waiver claim in MLB history.

Rongey is a Cardinal fan who gets paid to be a White Sox apologist. I don't put much stock in anything he says.

Well at the time, he was saying Kenny is a top 5 GM. Kenny always wanted Rios and Chris Young was bad at baseball.

Here's the problem with Rongey. When an angry fan calls in to suggest the Sox bench Rios, he high horses him in a bernsteinesque slow voice explaining, as if to a child, why the Sox could not and would never do such a thing. What he doesn't seem to understand is how goddamn foolish he looks now that they have done it.

It makes perfect sense to Ranger now that they have done it, don't you know.

The miracle of podcasting makes it so difficult to accuse people of listening to imaginary radio.

You just aren't privy to all the inside info Ranger is.

Chris is a fucking joke. There's nothing imaginary about that.

Zach Stewart can start if needed.

This move was a salary dump, gives KW flexibility if the Sox keep this up. They have looked pretty good since the All-Star break

No, but I think it could have been a quick trigger. I'm sure he was glad to unload Teahan and maybe that was part of it.

I agree. Maybe they can dump Rios if they're willing to eat enough of his money. He has enough of a track record that I'm sure someone would take a chance on him. It would probably be for the best.

You wuold think so. I don't think Rios is near as immovable as Soriano is. And Dunn has sucked this year for sure, but I do not see him hitting .200 with 16HRs next year. He will do better.

The White Sox could get rid of virtually any player on the roster if they were willing to pay 95% of the salary too.

But they're not

So at the end of next season, the sox payroll will look a lot worse.

So you have that and the attendance championship to hang your hat on next season.
