I am flying a little blindly here but Roy Williams signed for 2.5 million and one year while Braylon Edwards signed for 3.5. I think the difference in talent and production is significantly better than 1 million and I would have had Roy well down the list with the likes of Plaxico and Moss.
The Falcons had two guards and a tackle as FA. All would have been an upgrade and the Falcons weren't going to be able to sign all three. The Bears could have picked off one of those guards and immediately started him.
You don't do what you did to Kreutz. If you don't want him, that is a defensible business decision. You don't treat a loyal employee, who you should be soon looking to incorporate into your community liason department, like a jerkoff.
From what I could see, they were pitiful in there UDFA signings.
Roy was signed based on his past experience in the offense. It would take a new receiver a little longer to pick it up and because of the lockout they don't have the time. I actually trust Roy Williams more than I do the more talented Edwards.
I'm starting to come around to the idea that the Bears offensive line will be fine. I like Webb and Williams of the left side and Lousi and Carimi on the right. I can live with Garza playing center too.
Completely agree with your take on Kruetz.
Bringing in Barber really helps the running game. The Bears still need help in the secondary and a line backer. They have a lot of coin and didn't make any splashes so far this year. They will probably use that money to take care of some of their guys. Front load some deals.
