Broken wrist.

One of the guys who was fairly reliable at the plate. This isn't going to help.

Quote:
The White Sox placed A.J. Pierzynski on the disabled list on Tuesday with a fractured left wrist, retroactive to Aug. 13.

The Sox’ left-handed hitting catcher, who is batting .296 with six homers and 39 RBI, will be eligible to return Aug 28.

The Sox purchased the contract of Donny Lucy from AAA Charlotte.
Pierzynski sufferend the injury last Friday when he was hit by a pitch from Royals lefty Bruce Chen. It is the first time in the 34-year-old Pierzynski’s career that he is on the DL.

Pierzynski leads American League catchers in average, games played (103) and innings caught (862 1/3). Tyler Flowers, who has started in Pierzynski’s place, is expected to carry most of the load in Pierzynski’s absence.

Lucy, 28, is batting .158 with four homers for AA Charlotte. He is 8-for-30 with one homer in major league games.

Wow... looking at those stats something occurs to me...
Batting .296 with 6 homers and JUST 39 RBI? Damn. That's a lot of hits with no runs scoring.

I don't imagine he will return from a fracture in two weeks, more like 4-6, which takes him to the middle or end of September. KW should be checking the waiver wire for a C who they could get for nothing but his salary. Is Dan Wilson still alive?

When Donny Lucy was here the first time, he was hitting about .300 in limited at-bats when he subbed for Ramon Castro about a year ago and the White Sox pitching staff raved about working with him before he was sent back to Triple "A" Charlotte to make room for Ramon. Now? Lucy's only hitting around .155 prior to his call-up this afternoon and seemed to be out of the White Sox plans moving forward.

Judging by how many runners AJ can't throw out,I thought his wrist WAS broken.

Flowers may be a better player than AJ right now. AJ is a lefty but he does not drive in runs. He does not throw anyone out. He calls good games but thats over rated. He can call the pitches from the dugout just as well.

 Pretty good.

Time will tell if this injury really harms the club. A.J. has very poor power numbers but a decent BA. Kinda like Fukudome  . His throwing is so bad it may actually hurt the pitching staff. When a runner gets on, the pitcher may over-throw/throw more fastballs....alter the way he otherwise might approach the batter because he knows A.J. throws so poorly. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
