Pierzynski sufferend the injury last Friday when he was hit by a pitch from Royals lefty Bruce Chen. It is the first time in the 34-year-old Pierzynski’s career that he is on the DL.
Pierzynski leads American League catchers in average, games played (103) and innings caught (862 1/3). Tyler Flowers, who has started in Pierzynski’s place, is expected to carry most of the load in Pierzynski’s absence.
Lucy, 28, is batting .158 with four homers for AA Charlotte. He is 8-for-30 with one homer in major league games.

Pretty good.
. His throwing is so bad it may actually hurt the pitching staff. When a runner gets on, the pitcher may over-throw/throw more fastballs....alter the way he otherwise might approach the batter because he knows A.J. throws so poorly. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
