I believe it was a good trade because the Bears were getting a QB who went thru the growing pains of a young QB in Denver and was playing at a near Pro Bowl level when the Bears acquired him. The Bears did not have to go thru all the issues of drafting and developing a QB, Grossman and Orton for example.

Cutler has a big arm, mobility and an ability to stay heathy. All the Bears had to to is add a few pieces to the offense.

It's like one person bought a nice piece of steak, added the seasonings, cleaned the grill and grilled the steak. All the second person has to do is take the steak off the grill and not drop the steak. Well the Bears dropped the steak.

I still believe Cutler played an important role last year in getting the Bears a number 2 seed and an appearance in the NFC Championship game. So the trade has payed some dividends. In order for the trade and for Cutler to reach his full potential, the Bears need some talent around Cutler. The Falcons traded up for Julio Jones, the Panthers traded for Olsen, signed Shockey and already had Steve Smith. The Bears have done what the last couple of years?

kurt warner was never bumbling with the giants..he was solid in the short time he started and they fucked up and went to eli manning..warner was the better qb.. and harbaugh did suck with the bears, he was a little better with indy..but not good even with his career year(17) tds was just a game manager.

kurt warner should receive a purple heart for the season he put in in NY. kurt was brought in specifically to bridge the giants from kerry collins to eli manning, and, by the way, every other team in the league could have had him but every other team in the league thought he was done and passed on him. when he came on board he knew there was no competition, he was a 1-year band-aid. he got his ever-loving ass kicked that year behind a putrid line with what was then referred to as the worst set of receivers in the league. mobility was never his strong point, but he got sacked and fumbled a lot. he handled it all with nothing but graciousness and class. he backed up eli the rest of the way and parted company and that is that. He played pretty well on a crappy team.

the giants didn't fuck up going with eli. he is still playing, and playing pretty well. last year he definitely threw a lot of picks, but look at his career numbers - comp pct, yards, tds, rating, all of those are trending up. even his INT numbers have been good with last year being the exception. He will likely never be top 5, but he will be around 10 every year, and he has never missed a start. people make a lot of fun of him, but his career numbers arent too shabby. He's a solid but not great QB.

It is stupid to say Cutler sucks. Has he been what we hoped for? No. Does he suck? Only morons say that.

He has no line, no receivers and one running back.

Sunday he did what he had to do. Managed the game and won.

The whole record argument is ridiculous. ORton and Grossman had a better line, better receivers and a better defense and better special teams as well.

They still go to the Super Bowl in 07 with Cutler. Last year I doubt we go to the NFC title with Orton or Grossman.

I love the steak analagy. Why can't Bears get timing right? Why couldn't we have had Jay when we had that great defense, a decent line and halfway decent receivers?

And only a complete moron thinks we're better off with Orton or Grossman. Only a complete moron.

Make an argument about the draft picks that's a seperate issue but if anyone thinks we're better off with Orton who belongs in New Orleans because he's a saint they don't know enough about football to power a gnat.

I'm still a Jay guy.

He'll have a new offensive coordinator next season and then we'll get to start from scratch again.

And if Jerry Angelo is still the GM, the name of that offensive coordinator will be....Mike Tice.

As far as I'm concerned they can go ahead & make this move right now.

I seem to remember a ton of fumlbes and multiple safeties...the line wasnt good either, but he was awful.

EDIT: 12 fumbles, 11 lost in 9 games.

Rex Grossman thinks he needs to protect the ball.

I would think Warner would get a pretty good chuckle out of Rex giving him any kind of advice on playing quarterback.

So you respond to a joke with a serious thought? Ok.

Its called exaggerating for effect...12 fumbles in 9 games is kind of a lot. I proved that point by saying, in a hilarious way, even Rex Grossman doesnt fumble that much

You essentially backed up what I was saying and explained the joke.

Are you trying to be the villian this board is dying for or what?

Not last year.

I meant in their time on the Bears. While they weren't great the receivers and line were better for both orton and Grossman and the overall team was also better esp. defense.

Isn't it funny who's having the best year so far?

Not the receivers. I'd take this group over Moose and whoever else. The line wasn't great back then either and the line wasn't terrible last year. This year it is.

Yeah. Once again it's Orton. Pretty funny.
