One of the strangest sports moments of my life was when I both celebrated and was sad about the Bartman playoff series.

The Sox winning in 2005 took out my big concern that Cub fans like Juiced and bigfan would hold it over me like I'm a second class citizen. I'd be happy for my Cub fan friends and the couple Cub fans I like on the board.

I'd also like to see the Mets win. I think I'm just going to pick 4 or 5 teams to root for in each sport.

I'm a Cub fan and I get pleasure when the Cubs win and the Sox lose PERIOD EXCLAMATION POINT

So, since the Cubs win so rarely, you are back to jacking off for pleasure.

Hey Jimmy, Did Theo Epstein lay a wreath at the Ron Santo statue?
Has Epstein told the media how much Ronnie meant to him in his youth?

I sure can understand Rick's frustration with the bizarre way the White Sox are operated.
I can't see how anyone but a drooling White Sox Fanboy can't be anything but pissed off at the "Catch Lightning in a Bottle" organizational "plan".

This is the same plan that won you a world series in '05. Are Whitesox fans saying that is was luck that won them a world series. You can't have it both ways. Pick a lane. Either his plans work or he got lucky in '05 using his system.

I'm a huge Sox fan, but he got lucky in 2005. The team won it in the end, but there was plenty of luck in them getting there. He couldn't have "planned" for things like needing to bring up Jenks, or the "AJ friendly" umps.

Kudos for the honesty. I believe they got lucky, but so what they won. That said, Kenny is not a good GM and should have been fired with Ozzie.

So was it luck that he assembled three players of closer caliber (Jenks, Hermanson and Mr. Zero) the prior offseason or that all three performed well as closers?

Luck was Hernandez getting out of that inning of relief in Boston without getting scored upon. That type of luck happens to every world series winner in every post season.

Luck is not collecting good players who perform.

"Hermanson had nothing to do with them winning the WS"

Politte becoming Mariano Rivera for a year was pretty fortunate

And here we go. Lets rehash the old "2005 Sox were lucky not good" debate that happens over and over and over and over and over.

Meh. Call me crazy, but didn't win just because of luck like some would suggest. You don't win 99 regular season games and then go 11-1 in the playoffs because of luck.

You sneak into the playoffs with 85-86 wins and go 11-7 in the postseason, then you might be lucky...

I dont think it was luck.

I just think that Kenny had some good fortune with the players he acquired that year.

Regardless of that argument.

Buehrle, Rowand, Konerko, Crede, Garland

None of that is luck, all devoloped talent that played a major part

Since 2005, Kenny Williams has spent $600,000,000 in payroll and has 1 playoff win in 2008 to show for it.
The last 3 seasons the White Sox have been below .500 vs. the American League and the A.L. Central.
In a REAL organization, Kenny Williams AND Ozzie Guillen are fired after the 2010 season....PERIOD.

Luck???????????

They were 11-1 in the play offs.

they were the first team to 10 wins....20 wins.....30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 99. The best record in the fucking league from day ONE!

There are a lot of dumb people on these boards but saying the Sox were lucky is just plain dumb.

People tend to say they are satisfied after rare championships. But every Bulls title felt just as good as the last one other than the First. When the Bulls lose it hurts as bad as any year. The Sox werent expected to win in 05 but they played great the whole year. If they did that next year, R ick would be cheering as loud as anyone.

I think this thread is complete bull shit. Rooting for your team to win doesnt stop when your team wins. I want my team to win even more to prove the ONE wasnt a fluke.

And fuck the Cubs.

dude. You sure do bitch a lot. Fact is if Rios has an average year, Beckham plays like a 1st round pick and Dunn has an average year, Sox are in contention and may beat detroit. They ended up sucking and I blame those three more than Kenny, Jerry or Ozzie. I didnt like this team if I'm being honest but they would have been a little more entertaining if these Three Flamingos would have done their jobs.

Kennys mistakes were Pierre and resigning AJ.

Pierre was Kenny's fault?? Do you think it was just a coincidence that he traded for Ozzie's favorite player ever??
