I was on the phone with my uncle talking baseball, finishing up a cigarette when he told me "Jimmy, David Freese is going to hit a HR to win this game" --- indeed, he called it something like 30-45 seconds before it happened.

It was then that we both came to the immediate realization that we had just witnessed "The David Freese Game."

Now, will "The David Freese Game" end up being something timelessly huge like "The Kirk Gibson Game" ?? That depends if the Cardinals can finish game 7. I'll let SHARK fill you in on the proper details for the game, as doing so would effectively be above my paygrade, however, I can tell you that the immediate legacies (i'll take 'oxymorons' for $500, alex) of both Freese and Pujols would rely heavily on winning game 7, although moreso freese cuz for better or worse, even if he goes 0-3 with 2 walks tomorrow, pujols will forever go down history alongside only babe ruth and reggie jackson as men who have hit 3HR in a single world series game. Whether or not "The David Freese Game" has a shot at being as beloved as "The Kirk Gibson Game" is wholly on dependant on whether or not the Cardinals win the world series. If they do, you gotta figure that Freese has the inside track at world series MVP, right? I mean already, win or lose, he's on the free lunch circuit for life in St Louis, riiiiiight?

Over in #hardball on efnet, whilst many were calling this the greatest world series game EVER after the first comeback (where i was prescient in saying another comeback + victory = all-time game) the fact remains to win them over for life the Cardinals have to win the damn series. No matter what happens tho, the refrain of many #hardball faithful was "this is why we watch the game" --- truer words have never been spoken.
