He wasn't exactly an unathletic guy to begin with though. I know a lot of guys here who rip on him paint him as some uncoordinated, nerdy brainiac, but the guy was active and played sports before the knee injury.

I am Bryan and I have watched/followed baseball for years and seen major leaguers who couldnt turn around 95 mph fastballs so I find it very hard to believe that a normal ametuer could do something that a lot of pros have trouble with.

I assume Bernstein is talking the VERY FAST batting cages which are usually low 80's

Are you sure about the 40 inch vertical. Maybe 30 or 31 inch. That wasn't that unusual in athletic guys in high school.
10 foot hoop = 120 inches
5'6" = 66"
wing span for 1 arm equals half body length = 33"
less head = -10" or so?
total body length = 89
120" - 89" = 31"

The other thing is the ability to jump and hold a tennis ball at the highest point of a jump is an athletic feat, but not a great one. The ability to time the foot movement, hand eye coordination, arm strength to hit a baseball is somewhat different. I think it can be done if you spend hours of time at it, and aren't concerned about the occasional high and tight pitch.
