Hmmm...I didn't see it that way. Thanks, Keyser.

He might not be as pricey as Greinke, Apologist. I don't know that for sure...

I'd like to have either of those guys, but if Floyd is part of the deal, I think you're pretty much running in place concerning this season. Swapping Floyd and Shields is pretty much a matter of liking the guy you don't have better than the guy you do have. I think Shields is a bargain next year for his $9 million option.

I want Gavin Floyd out of here, regardless if it's Zach Greinke, James Shields or any other pitcher on the market now. Floyd...Too inconsistent. Ditto for Phil Humber.

Guys always seem more inconsistent when they're in your team's uniform.

I'd take Greinke in a heartbeat over Floyd.

I'm with JORR on this, trading Gavin right now would be silly. They don't need to be losing another SP, but trying solidify things.

Plus...doesnt Floyd usually have a great stretch of like 8 starts once a season?

He could catch fire.

Here's the problem. The White Sox don't have enough in the minors to pull off a Greinke deal. Floyd might have to be included just for the Brewers to tell GM Ken Williams not to hang up on himself. Seriously.

Didn't I read many years ago that Zach Greinke turned down a chance to get dealt to the Yankees when he was a Royal many years ago? Too much pressure in the Bronx?

The Red Sox are at least opening their ears to inquiries about Josh Beckett. Him, Brett Myers, Coop and AJ would be one hell of a crew together.

If they can package Floyd and Thornton to get Greinke, fucking do it.

Why would a team like Milwaukee want Thornton at this stage of his career? And who do the Sox replace him with? I know you guys don't like him. I don't like him. But realistically, are you going to find a better lefty to come out of the pen? And I've already explained why moving Floyd for Greinke is a bad idea. That's a deal that isn't going to help the Sox a whole lot- if at all.

At this point, I'd take my chances with Santiago or a righty. Saw all I needed to see out of Thornton in Boston. 2 lefties, gets ahead of themboth, and gives up a hit. He's no good anymore.

You probably need more than one lefty coming out of the pen. And Santiago has had his struggles too. If you made a deal like that and somehow Danks was able to come back, I guess Quintana could go to the pen. I'm not sure that would be the best idea either though. Greinke for Floyd strikes me as a move you make for the postseason rather than to get to the postseason.

No way you put Quintana in the pen, unless something drastic changes. Put fucking Danks in there before Quintana

Right but it would be a big mistake to put Quintana in the pen. He's having a ton of success as a starter and he's a soft tosser...not really good for late inning need a strikeout situations

I think he strikes enough guys out. Better than that though, he isn't loading the bases with walks like the guys they have coming out of the pen now. If you do make a trade for a starter and Danks does make it back, Quintana is the logical guy to go to the pen.

John Danks isn't on a rehab assignment, and I don't think the White Sox on the whole have been all that honest regarding what's REALLY wrong. I'm not holding my breath that John pitches again this season for the Sox.

I'm not holding my breath waiting for his return either. And on second thought, maybe if they do get him back to where he can pitch, he's better off coming out of the pen for the rest of the year where they can better control his workload (especially after the September call-ups) and aren't counting on him every fifth day. Who knows what's going to happen? It should be interesting.

Twitter reports (take them for what they are) that the White Sox are rumored to be in on discussions to acquire Brandon League from Seattle.

I have no specifics, but I'm told #Whitesox are "a little busy" trying to get some stuff done before trade deadline. don't be surprised.

Does this count as 1 of the breaking stories?
