Ventura is allowing the pressure of this race to get to him and expose him as a rookie manager. He is completely over managing just about every situation. Bunting, pitching changes, etc. He just needs to relax, put his normal guys out there and let them play.

Yes.

He's doing stuff that he avoided for most of the season.

This is a time where you would hope that a guy like Coop or one of the other trusted coaches would pull him aside and just tell him to chill. He has done a real solid job this year, let's not screw it up in the last couple of weeks.

According to the Trib's Mark Gonzales, you won't see Tigers' OF/2B Ryan Raburn tonight. He's been placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to Tuesday due to a right quad injury.

The Tigers are shaking up their lineup tonight. Here's how they'll deal with the White Sox' Chris Sale:

14 Austin Jackson CF (R)
4 Omar Infante 2B (R)
24 Miguel Cabrera 3B (R)
28 Prince Fielder 1B (L)
21 Delmon Young DH (R)
27 Jhonny Peralta SS (R)
34 Avisail Garcia LF (R)
26 Brennan Boesch RF (L)
9 Gerald Laird C (R)
Starting Pitcher:35 Justin Verlander (RHP; 13-8, 2.91 ERA)

As for the White Sox vs. Verlander:

30 Alejandro De Aza LF (L)
20 Kevin Youkilis 3B (R)
28 Dewayne Wise CF (L)
14 Paul Konerko 1B (R)
51 Alex Rios RF (R)
12 A.J. Pierzynski C (L)
24 Dayan Viciedo DH (R)
10 Alexei Ramirez SS (R)
15 Gordon Beckham 2B (R)
Starting Pitcher: 49 Chris Sale (LHP; 16-6, 2.88 ERA)

I've been out of the loop. Is there a reason why Wise is batting third in the most important game (so far) of the season?

He's been the best Sox hitter for about the last 3 weeks if I'm not mistaken.

  I knew he had been starting for them when DeAza was out but I didnt think he was playing that well.

RV has this goofy R-L thing; and when someone (in this case, Dunn) is out of the lineup, he just puts the replacement in the same slot rather than move everyone else around.

I don't understand it either. Common sense suggests a guy such as 1B Paul Konerko or RF Alex Rios should bat 3rd instead of a journeyman like CF Dewayne Wise with DH/1B Adam Dunn still out with the oblique injury.

In case you're wondering why Alejandro De Aza is in LF again tonight, the Trib's Mark Gonzales says that De Aza is "more comfortable" in LF than CF with Wise still in there. Hmmm...

Again SHARK, Wise has been better than Konerko.

Why would you want a worse hitter batting 3rd?

I was referring to overall body of work. If it were up to me, De Aza & 2B Gordon Beckham would be #1, #2 with 3B Kevin Youkilis in an RBI slot with SS Alexei Ramirez batting 9th.

Well I don't much care for overall body of work.

What have you done for me lately?

In the case on Paul Konerko, the answer is not much.

Good point by you. I'm not holding my breath that Adam Dunn returns to the White Sox lineup anytime soon.

Konerko, historically, is a very good fastball hitter going up against a very good fastball pitcher tonight

According to the Trib's Mark Gonzales, these are the ONLY 5 White Sox players with .250 or higher batting averages vs. the Tigers' Justin Verlander lifetime:

28 Dewayne Wise CF .368
5 Orlando Hudson 2B .333
18 Jose Lopez 3B .295
17 Tyler Flowers C .286
12 A.J. Pierzynski C .257

Only those names in BOLD are in RV's lineup tonight vs. Verlander.

The Captain Obvious of reporting. Great job, Gonzo.

So what's the over/under on the pre-game rain delay, 60 minutes?

I don't see how they'll play. Weather.com shows a steady rain through midnight at the very least.

I hope the rain washes your foul stench away.

They both have Monday off so that would be the ideal date. That's the last day off for the season for both teams.

If the Sox are smart they'll hold Sale off until Monday. Missing Verlander is a big break.

Gavin Floyd pitches vs. Doug Fister Monday @ 1:10P at U.S. Cellular Field in the makeup of last night's Tigers/White Sox rainout. In the interim, White Sox have to take care of biz in Minnesota this weekend. No excuses.

Douglas Fister vs. Jose Quintana

A win means a 3 game cushion. A loss means getting fistered.

Please win.

Speak for yourself.

After outing yourself in the BUTT THREAD I would imagine you would not turn down a solid, well performed fistering.
