That's not on the defense.

That's a desperation play that teams use when they have no real offensive options.

YES!. You see a guy that is supposed to block you turn around and stare at the kicker, your first reaction would be to knock him on his ass.

We all remember the Giants game with all the sacks. Let's give Tice the chance to coach up this line like he did before. It will be tough however with Webb, but let's see what happens. Maybe someone else steps up or gets signed, etc.

At least this was only Game 2.

Defense was top-notch tonight.

Bears played horribly on the road against what is believed to be a good team and still had a chance to win this thing midway through the 4th.

People need to chill out.

They did? I wasn't even slightly concerned at that point. I was very concerned before the game.

I never felt like they were in this game but the score still close enough.

I agree with you that people are over-reacting, and I agree with you that it isn't the defense's fault, but I don't think it is a desperation play, and the reason why is that you are up 3-0 at that point. Your defense is kicking the snot out of the other teams offense. They get it at the 34 if you miss. If you've drawn up a "gimmick play", I say use it in that situation if you feel like it. A shovel pass isn't likely to cause too many issues if you miss .. you don't have a lot of speedsters in the middle anyhow so if it is a fumble or pick somehow, you're probably only going to give up a yard or two.

The Bears simply got in too many 3rd and 20 situations due to sacks or penalty and you can't win games when half of your drives are like that. They need to get back to running on first down, and play some by the book offense... run on first down, try some protection where the RB or TE just gets a bump on a guy and then goes out for a short pass... things like that. A lot of 3-6 yard gains... I think this team could do that easily, and then periodically you hit the big one to Jeffery or Marshall.

Why the hell doesn't Cutler ever throw the ball away?

It's pretty obvious to me. This isn't a struggling offense that can afford to simply wait until they get a drive going. This offense goes into flat out cardiac arrest. And it's a snowball effect. Trying to massage things back into shape is the mediocrity we saw for so many years. Dump offs, throwing the ball away, etc. And with this line in particular, it only gets worse once things go bad.

I don't buy the BS about Cutler to begin with, so I'm personally happy we have a QB who is willing to sacrifice numbers to at least try and shock the offense back to life. Literally force it back to life. That's what is happening. And we've seen it work at times.

And Dom Capers absolutely stomped a mudhole in Lovie and Tice.

Show me a 'leader' that deals with this BS. Teams and offenses can have bad games. The Bears' ability to absolutely wet the bed is unmatched. It's gobsmacking.

You just know this games looks a lot different if one thing here or there goes right. And it always goes back to things that players at this level should or should not be doing. Things you simply do not see on other teams.

What the hell is the communication issue with Garza? Cutler has to direct everyone. It's pathetic.

How many years under Lovie Smith are we going to wonder what this team is? Last year, 2005 - we dont know what team we will see from week to week. Elite football teams are not that. We just know they are not as bad as their worst, and not as good as their best. That's a shit situation. And it has existed under this guy as a rule. He has to go.

Damn good post, but I'm not going to even get into the Lovie thing. It's not worth empty bickering over a fruitless debate that can't be resolved right now.

It does, but you know that fucker won't take it to heart. He'll sit back at home and blame it on everyone else while his bubble headed bimbo tells him that he's exactly right.

I was grasping at what I could to try to make the Packer fans not feel so giddy.
