Going to be a brutal season of watching this shit.

There is absolutely no way NIU could be middle-of-the-pack in this conference.

There is just no way. The gap is too large.

Northwestern is the de facto cream of the class.

That's probably true, but I do find it a bit strange that it's being pointed out in a week where the conference went 10-2. How 'bout them Illini!

The de facto cream of the class, is who it usually is, Michigan and Ohio State.

Out of the 4 wins the Big Ten has against BCS Automatic Qualifying Schools, Northwestern has 3 of em.

No cupcakes for the Wildcats!

It wasn't too long ago that NU was everyone's favorite cupcake.

 Yeah that is a completely deceiving record there.

THe NU once being a cupcake and the fact you always want me to wear purple now makes sense.

My brother said it well. If you had told him in the 80s there'd be a time when 6 wins would be considered a letdown season he would have called you crazy.

I am a fan of Northwestern but since Illinois is our state school I root for them as well except when they play NU.

tOSU has been bad. No reason UCF and Cal should've been close games when playing at the Horseshoe. The defense was supposed to be a strength with so many returning starters but has sucked shit.

They are still the best two teams in the conference.

He says after a one-point home win over the third-best service academy.

So margin of victory matters in this discussion, right?

It's certainly not a data point in NIU's favor.

I see. Was it a data point in the Big 10's favor two weeks ago?

I think I've been on record as saying the Big Ten sucks pretty hard this season. If I'm not, I'll establish the record here: the Big Ten sucks pretty hard this season.

That being said, NIU is 2-6 in their past eight teams in the Big Ten, and they haven't exactly been playing the meat of the conference. Assuming Indiana and Penn State don't win seven wins, which I feel pretty safe assuming, this is going to be season number nine in a row since a MAC team has beaten a Big Ten team that finishes better than .500. So yes, even in this crappy conference, NIU would finish near the bottom.

I'll take this as another data point in NIU's favor in this discussion.

NIU would be a middle of the pack team in the Big 10 year in and year out.

Maybe this year, maybe. But year in and year out, no.

One year out of every 4-5 is all that half the teams in the Big 10 accomplish.........maybe...so I guess they'd fit right in!

It's a different world in CFB now. You can discount everything prior to........8-10 years ago.
You probably knew that though.

NIU couldn't possibly do worse than Indiana has.
