Seriously?

Yeah, seriously. The player has a completely different view of the game than the fan. Frank is with the Sox for his life. Alex Rios is with whoever is signing his check.

I think its more of a "they are who we thought they were" than a choke. To choke would mean they should have been there in the first place....and speaking of first place

I don't know what this means, so I'll take it as a "yes".

Man, I still can't believe that the White Sox choked away a division title.

If you could define choking it would be a better argument. But don't say that it's losing 10 of 12 and then tell me next year it's losing 5 of 8 or whatever. Teams do exactly what they're capable of doing. The Sox and Tigers aren't great teams. That's why 87 wins or so is taking the division.

Its not much of a division title when 2 teams have better records and will not make the playoffs.

Right. But they can't define "choke."

Dude. Is something wrong with you? You have missed me and others defining it several times... How is that possible? You been getting you ass handed to you in this thread, and your absolute failure to acknowledge eveb the basic facts, such as the repeated definition of choke by many posters, is proof that you've lost the internets today. But you haven't defined it. You're spouting some ambiguous bullshit. Like the Sox losing 10 of 12 in September is choking and the Cubs losing 10 of 12 in August isn't. Or it could be. Or maybe not. Depending on what the Esteemed Board Elder Sir Darkside deems on a given day.

And stop trying to rally a micro-mob. You should know by now that shit doesn't work with me. I'm as comfortabale debating six dummies at once as I am just one.

Losing 10 of the final 12.
Being in first for 117 days and losing a 3 gane lead in the last week of the season.

Who cares what the opening day line was? Its irrelevant to the fact that the opening day lines were not reality. Fact is, they were the first place team since what, June? So much so that the popular opinion on this board was that they were a shoe in for the division, right up until this weekend. The final weekend of the season. Pretty obvious to all but the most blinded by denial baseball observer.

Thanks. That will be the last time I'll define it for you. I'm sure you'll completely ignore it and again, claim no one defined it.

Again - how can a person (JORR) definitively say that a team absolutely "did not choke" and then admit to not having any idea what choking actually means?

I know it's against the law, but since I am admitting to being ignorant of the law........

There's nothing to deny. I think the team played exactly as well as it should have because that's what it did.

They haven't lost ten of the final twelve. It seems as if your real definition of choking is losing more than Darkside thinks you should.

You'll have to show me where I've said definitively that any team didn't choke. I said I don't believe the Sox choked and challenged anyone to define what "choking" is. Darkside says it's losing 10 of 12. Except when the Cubs do it. Then it's just a terrible team losing.

Jorr... What is a close play? A guy out by 6 inches and not seven? Is it a rjnner out by a half a step at first or only a quarter step? I'm sure the definition is different to each observer based on the circumstances, but one can't deny a close play when they see it, nor can its existence be denied.

Whatever. You can't define it. You're just doing meatball fan talk. It's cool. Most fans do it. A few losses at the wrong time is "choking." A few hits at the right time is "clutch."

Denial. You're just in denial. I'm not shocked. Its one of the most rudimentary of defense mechanisms. Its the one that requires the least amount of intelligence. Very basic. Very caveman.
It doesn't take any wits to cover your ears and close you eyes and scream "I can't hear you I can't hear you!".
It requires no absolute definition, just like a "close play" requires no definition. It is what it is. Everyone knows it when they see it j less they've committed to the veil of denial and ignorance.

Sorry, I was giving you credit for self-awareness. Anyway, if you can't define it, how the fuck is anyone supposed to know what it is?

Anybody here seen my old friend Bobby?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
I thought I saw him walkin' up to The Hill

10 of theor last 12. They got what 3 left? That's close enough.
You know what I mean. Don't be a schmuck.

What do you think I'm denying? It doesn't really matter to me whether the White Sox players all got scared and shit their pants in the face of pennant race pressure or whether they just weren't good enough. The result is exactly the same.

Sorry, I was giving you credit for self-awareness. Anyway, if you can't define it, how the fuck is anyone supposed to know what it is?

But if it's "not defined", let's just go ahead and say it definitely isn't true.

You're right, that is a lot easier!
