That Industrial Strip spot is all over the place. It sounds like the premise is going to be that there's no more smoking, but then they go with the whole "pretend you don't know about the Industrial Strip and the adjacent casinos" thing. I felt like that was his polite way of saying he isn't there to help "his guys." They are on their own and he won't go to bat for people.

So he'll take credit for the fact that CBS sent Jason to Atlanta or that J. Hood is a host down the dial or Dan Zampillo is a suit at GN or Leery is destined to hang around the Score forever, but he won't acknowledge having actively done anything to help them. It just so happens that radio's best and brightest prospects are consistently moths to his flame and merely working for him is all they really needed to make it to the top. That's sorta crappy. So Mac isn't afraid to advocate for his young guys. Fine. I find that admirable in a cutthroat industry. Of course no one is there merely to perpetuate one's legacy, but it's still something you make time and effort to do, and it's something Dan has done, which makes this whole paragraph a complete waste of time.

I've always attempted to help people under me succeed. If you'll pardon the expression. However, not everyone is like that. I've been burned, but I'll take my way. Not that I have to justify my response, but that's part of the reason I felt slightly emotional with the whole deal. When people decide to do their own thing, no matter how far out of their comfort zone it might be, that's a great thing. But this is an Internet chat board, so I'm sure that's burrito.
