Chris (call him Christopher) Hall is one of the biggest poseur douchebags I've ever had the misfortune of meeting.
Walter and Andy are cool, and Sellers is a mensch, but Hall is a laugh riot.

The real songwriter in that bunch of dopes was Stu Zechman. He's the guy who wrote the guitar hook for "Ungod"/"Hey, Man, Nice Shot".

So I was going to spend a decent amount to sit 4th row for Blitzen Trapper this Saturday. Then I noticed they were the opener. Nah. Really want to see them, but not half a setlist.

I have two for the JSBX this Sunday at Bottom Lounge. May not be using them, let me know if anyone is interested.

Did you really think they were headlining the Chicago Theatre?

I remember seeing them open for the Two Gallants about 5 years ago at the Empty Bottle.

Dumbass is me, I guess. The thing that should have tipped it earlier was the $50 face value. I remember saying "That's too much for Blitzen Trapper." Whoops. Maybe I should have kept the first post to myself

How was this? I get quite a few songs from them when I listen to Pandora but don't own anything by them.

Didn't go. I wasn't going to drop any coin on seeing them perform 12 songs. I'll catch them when they're the headliner. If you want specific albums, I would start with Furr and Destroyer of the World. If you like those, buy the others. I really like them all, for the most part. Field Rexx is kind of "eh" except for a few songs.

Sorry I didn't read close enough. I thought you still went but didn't pop for the primo seats. The albums you have
mentioned including the latest American Goldwing were the ones I usually keep an eye out for when I go cd shopping.

-Probably my favorite DT record, the lyrics can be a bit schmaltzy at times but the music and composition is top notch and the flow of the songs and narrative is strong.

That's a solid album. Apparently I don't have them all after looking at iTunes. Whoops

On the heels of yesterday's Danny Mac and Spiegs discussion of apostrophes (mainly punctuation), I thought of this song. Unfortunately, it will be stuck in my head the rest of the day.

I really liked "Myriad Harbour," but found this album flat otherwise. Twin Cinema was better, but I never really got on board with the New Pornographers like most did. Broken Social Scene is still my Canadian indie supergroup of choice.

Lot of new stuff came out recently.

Ill Nino - Epidemia
Rah Rah - The Poet's Dead
Stone Sour - House of Gold and Bones Part 1
Down - Down IV, Part I - The Purple (EP)
Serj Tankian - Harakiri

Finally was able to track down Mt. Helium - Faces album, former Aphex Theory members.

Anyone ever listen to Porcupine Tree? They're sort of like a modern version of Rush, without the Dream Theater...

Thanks.

First time listening to it in it's entirety. Maxwell's Silver Hammer blows, but the rest is pretty good.

So you like that, but you don't like jazz.

I tried. I feel like I'm giving and giving and giving, you know? And I'm not getting anything back.

I dig jazz just fine. I don't listen to a ton of it and have to be in the right mood. It's not an all the time thing for me just like rock isn't. I could listen to hip hop at all times of the day...
