Once again, NFL contracts aren't guarenteed. You guys seem to not understand that even though I've explained it to you. In fact, sometimes if it's structured right, it's better for the Bears to have a longer deal with the bigger money up front. Less of a salary cap hit if they have to cut him after 2 years. So don't get worked up on a 5 year deal. It doesn't mean they're stuck with him or his money if he gets hurt.

It will a 4 or 5 year extension.

I could give a shit about money dude. I'm more worried about them realizing it's time to find the next qb and get him ready to go a la Rodgers.

Vick signed a HUGE deal with Philly 2 years ago. But he's due a roster bonus before next training camp. They won't pay it. And they're out from it. That's one example.

He started the last 5 games for the Broncos in his rookie year. Followed by 2 straight years of starting all 16 games for the Broncos. His first year with the Bears he started all 16 games. 2nd year with the Bears he started 15 out of 16 games. Last year he missed the last 6 games cuz of the fluke thumb injury. He'll probably end up starting 15 out of 16 this year.

So, since he became an NFL starter, he has played in 80 out of 88 games. 6 games cuz of that thumb injury. Now what?

But he's also not as bad as Vick. That's the point. It's not Vick's age. He's still a great athlete. It's his turnovers in crucial moments.

Yeah this year Vick sucks. His O Line is as bad as the Bears line. But unlike you guys, I'm not pinning Vick's shitty play on that. He's just been very bad. But his 2010 season is also far better than any season Jay will ever have.

If you keep him through his contract and then tag him for a year.......then the defensive core would be ancient enough to finally retire or move on and I think when that core is gone Lovie will by choice ride into the sunset and take some time off.

The Bears gave Cutler and extension that put him over $15M annually. After what we've seen they would be foolish to give him the same amount again.

Bears could have gotten similar production from Orton for 1/3 of the price. It wasn't a bargain. If he played like a top 5 to 10 QB it would have been a good deal. As of now he hasn't. Of course if he catches fire and leads the Bears to the SB he will be worth the money. That's a IF.
