I got no issues with short term extensions.

Once again, NFL contracts aren't guarenteed. You guys seem to not understand that even though I've explained it to you. In fact, sometimes if it's structured right, it's better for the Bears to have a longer deal with the bigger money up front. Less of a salary cap hit if they have to cut him after 2 years. So don't get worked up on a 5 year deal. It doesn't mean they're stuck with him or his money if he gets hurt.

It will a 4 or 5 year extension.

I could give a shit about money dude. I'm more worried about them realizing it's time to find the next qb and get him ready to go a la Rodgers.

Vick signed a HUGE deal with Philly 2 years ago. But he's due a roster bonus before next training camp. They won't pay it. And they're out from it. That's one example.

Ummm didnt he just get one 3 weeks ago? as in thats the reason Campbell started the SF game?

I mean, it sounds good to say stuff like that, but it really makes no sense.

Huh? you either miss games or you don't, and Cutler has shown to miss too many as a Bear..no way resign this guy...Draft his replacement ...Just like Forte was a dumb signing.

That's just it, contrary to what you say, he doesn't miss many games. That's the funny thing about people calling him injury prone. It just ain't true.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/jay-cutler/careerstats/401243?q=jay-cutler

He started the last 5 games for the Broncos in his rookie year. Followed by 2 straight years of starting all 16 games for the Broncos. His first year with the Bears he started all 16 games. 2nd year with the Bears he started 15 out of 16 games. Last year he missed the last 6 games cuz of the fluke thumb injury. He'll probably end up starting 15 out of 16 this year.

So, since he became an NFL starter, he has played in 80 out of 88 games. 6 games cuz of that thumb injury. Now what?

312Player:  I'm a dumb ass cracker.

Ok I missed it, sorry. Carry on with your flawed reasoning. Bears arent winning shit with Cutler and theres no way they should sign him long term. UMN has it right. Franchise his ass then adios. Long line of dudes who can be a mediocre chucker of the ball.

It's like you have Darko on ignore and just keep chugging along. The Vick deal set the Eagles back at least three seasons. I doubt Philly fans care about the owner's money.

Too much. I wouldn't know how to structure it either. I can't see the Bears getting this done.

No. I don't have him on ignore. I answered him. And don't compare Vick to Cutler. That's just stupid.

2010 - NFC Championship game
2011 - 7-3 before Culter got hurt
2012 - 8-3 as of right now.

That's not setting a franchise back.

Not yet. He's not as old as Vick yet. He's not far away though.

Let's not fight. We both want the Bears to resign Cutler to a 5 year extension.

But he's also not as bad as Vick. That's the point. It's not Vick's age. He's still a great athlete. It's his turnovers in crucial moments.

Yeah this year Vick sucks. His O Line is as bad as the Bears line. But unlike you guys, I'm not pinning Vick's shitty play on that. He's just been very bad. But his 2010 season is also far better than any season Jay will ever have.

Yeah, I see how you threw Denver in there to strengthen your case..I don't care how many games he started in 'Denver..that is why I said in a "bears uniform" he has show to be injury prone here, just like Vick..not reliable ad not good enough to take a long term risk on...Two qb's that were guaranteed to miss games this year were Vick/Cutler.

Why would you ignore his Denver days? Are you saying the injury monster knows what uniform you're wearing and hates the Bears more than the Broncos. What the fuck? Are you a B&B caller?

Even if you just take his Bears days...

2009 - 16 out of 16
2010 - 15 out of 16
2011 - 10 out of 16 (Fluke god damn thumb injury)
2012 - Probably gonna be 15 out of 16

THAT's NOT INJURY PRONE!!!!!

If you keep him through his contract and then tag him for a year.......then the defensive core would be ancient enough to finally retire or move on and I think when that core is gone Lovie will by choice ride into the sunset and take some time off.

You need to stop these type of posts UMN. We want the Bears to resign Cutler for as long an extension as possible.

The Bears gave Cutler and extension that put him over $15M annually. After what we've seen they would be foolish to give him the same amount again.

Right. Foolish? It was a bargin based on the results that I posted above. They'll give him another one in the offseason. Hate it. Love it. Whatever. For you not to believe it will happen is foolish. This talk about letting him ride out the last year and then franchise him isn't gonna happen. Bears like him. He wants to be here. It will happen. It benefits both parties to get it done. He will sign a 4 to 5 extension this offseason. There is no doubt.

Bears could have gotten similar production from Orton for 1/3 of the price. It wasn't a bargain. If he played like a top 5 to 10 QB it would have been a good deal. As of now he hasn't. Of course if he catches fire and leads the Bears to the SB he will be worth the money. That's a IF.

He doesn't want to be here if people don't start blocking for him.

The numbers don't show it but he's clearly a better QB than Orton. My point was the $30M 2 year extension they gave him wasn't a bargain.
