It was really a strange transformation from populist sports talker to general topics talker to right wing politics talker. I don't think Mike changed who he was. I think he lost his focus on what got him there.

I'm listening to pappy right now on fox sports radio (don't ask me why. have pity on me). It's hilariously bad. He's broadcasting live from some Las Vegas hotel (of course he mentioned the suite he's got). He just started and already done two racist impressions (one of the late Norm van Lier, and as he put it, his cabby "some black dude from Michigan", complaining about traffic). He just talked up the hotel next door and whined about how this hotel had it's escalator broken (tsk tsk, no way to treat the place that's putting you up). He also claims everyone recognizes him and is coming up to him as a sports/gambling know-it-all

LMAO the producer just played some Isley Brothers Christmas song coming back from break "awww yeah, what is this, Vandross right???". I can't turn this off

It was close or past midnight, I was driving to my hotel in Houston and flipping channels. I almost veered off the road when I heard Mancow and Pappy! It was the definition of derangined radio. Sounded like two unrelated conversations in which the parties are trying to outyap each other.

Dahl was the only edgy guy around in the late 70's for us teens. Looking back I remember a lot of dead air while he would giggle and talk about the topic of the day. He really was never very entertaining but he was edgier than Lujack, Sky Daniels or Wally.

I was more of a WMET guy back then.

Mancow had his moments but like North, viewed himself differently than his listeners which was his downfall.

Don't know. I only heard it that one night on one of the Houston AM stations. Made me happy after a long day though! When you spend a couple weeks away from home even Mancow and North sound good.

I caught a bit of Mancow's show on the WPWR on Monday morning. My God is it awful. Mancow obsessively adjusting his microphone, talking about the bible & comparing Obama to the Devil. Some guy in a Mexican wrestling mask standing behind him. North teetering awkwardly to the side, periodically tossing in "funny" comments. It has the feel of cable access. It's not even fun bad.
