I think that KS was trying to present a theoretical ideal (which we'll all be far, far away from) rather than preaching from on-high.

DT, fatter is an actual physical attribute while uglier is a perception, so much of your hypothesis will need to depend on how many people have the perception of your ugliness and then you can weigh that against your fatness and get a pretty solid ratio for your decision.
