I'm a Cubs fan and a Mark Grace fan but No. 17 should not be retired. Harry is getting on my nerves with his little crusade. You need some new material, bro.

Harry is a complete idiot on this topic. Mac is right, there are other more deserving players.

Not that I think he necessarily deserves it, but Fergie Jenkins would be WAY ahead of Grace in terms of getting his number retired by the Cub. Check his stats - they are pretty remarkable for a Cub pitcher in any decade. Plus, he did enough coke to kill a small village.

I like the way you think, Dave. Next time you're up in The Stock, let me know. Maybe we can play 9 at The B.V.

I'm also tired of Harry's stance on this topic. It's not deserving at this time. Maybe Harry should go on some sort of broadcasting strike (like a hunger strike) where he won't come back onto the air until Grace's jersey is retired  .

If the White Sox can retire Harold Baines number 20 years to early why not Grace?

It's ridiculous that Harry asked Fontenot about this...the Cubs should not concern themselves with retiring Grace's number. He was a nice player, but simply having the most hits in the 90s is not a compelling enough argument for most of us sane people.

My god, who cares? Even if it was a slam dunk that Grace should be retired it doesn't mean that this is what should be discussed right now on the air, let alone making interesting radio. So lets say his number WAS retired, how does that make Harry's or any other Cub fan's life different? It DOESN'T. On the other hand discussing how the Cubs can improve and make the playoffs and possibly the World Series IS IMPORTANT to sports radio listeners and especially Cub fans. That's what your job is as the #1 sports show in this market. While you're at it talking about Grace number retirement, why don't you go all the way like Patrick and talk steroids and hall of fame as well.

Bingo. Not topical/salient or interesting. I like Harry...but this is a poor move on his part. Let the light shine where it should. On the field play and their (marginal) hopes for the rest of the season.

Harry's focus is what is the problem with many Cubs fans (not all, but many.) What they care about DOESN'T MATTER when it comes to standings/winning/championships. They want the Cubs to be "fun" and allow Wrigley to be a "party." To me, if I was Harry, I would be crusading for Jim Hendry to finally move Jones, asking why their bullpen blows, and what kind of deals can Hendry make before the deadline to get this team past Milwaukee.

Look, I am a Sox fan, but it would be awesome for the city of Chicago for every team to finally win a championship in my lifetime. I'm not one of those Sox fans who celebrate when the Cubs lose, as the first word in the team's name is "Chicago" and any time a Chicago team wins, that's a good thing. (Ok, save those 6 interleague games, but you get my point.) Anything that would make Joe Buck sound like the miserable bastard that he is in October brings a smile to my face, and considering how miserable he was with the Sox winning? Could you imagine the disappointment in his voice if the Cubs won?

It's this type of crap that gets me to tune to another station when MJH gets going on this. Enough already.

Maybe Harry should strike until he can fit into Grace's jersey.

And don't forget about Hack Wilson, owner of the NL record for RBI in a single season for many years.

Maybe all the Cuervos have killed off his sense for 'reason'.

Here's what I think of Harry suggesting Gracie's jersey should be retired and also the preposterous suggestion that Sox fans root for the OTHER CHICAGO team (since the Sox suck):
