Wouldn't a guy like Trestman be a better hire than some of the other candidates because he has actually been a Head Coach of a team and had some success? I mean I get it is an inferior league. But in reality has not Trestman had more success as a head coach than Chip Kelly? What has Kelly won?

I am not advocating them hiring Trestman either, but I would rather than have him over the Special teams coaches from Atlanta or Dallas

I dont think winning the grey cup or whatever it is in the CFL really means anything. I really dont know how it compares to having success in the NCAA, so I really cant answer that question. Trestman is probably better than Singletary, and might be better than the ST coaches. I still think he is a terrible candidate and I would love to see the Bears hire him or one of those other candidates much more than I would like them to hire a guy like McCoy, Kelly, Sullivan, Zimmer, Arians, etc. Every candidate is hit or miss, but the chances of miss are much greater, imo, with guys like Trestman, Singletary, or ST coaches.

And with Chip Kelly, it's not so much about his overall lack of NCAA championships. Ever since he has been with Oregon as OC and HC he has transformed their offense, has shown to be a genuinely innovative offensive mind in a football world severely lacking those, and has had Oregon as a pretty much universal top 5 program since he was promoted to HC. Maybe it's because NCAA football is more visible to us casually, but I think it's alot easier to identify his potential strengths as a head coach than it is with a guy like Trestman.

Chip Kelly is a gimmick coach. I don't think his offensive ideas will play in the NFL.

Very possible. He doesn't seem as stubborn as Spurrier, but if he is then you'll be 100% correct.

Yeah, you probably did. Doesn't mean you didn't write it yourself.

I didn't, but in any event, the accusation was made well before the book came out (or anyone knew about the book).

Even better, he wouldn't even make the accusation as Scorehead. He did it as Terry's Guy, in case he got called on it. Well, he did get called on it, and everyone knew who it was.

I'll post the thread when I get home tonight. It's in my PMs but I'm on my phone.

For the record, there were a few other board members who accused you of posting messages here that were merely copy & paste jobs.
Having said that, I have no interest in a childish internet posting war. Have at it if you so desire. I have better things to do like gaze at my picture of Phil Emery.

You could fire Angelo on the 2007 draft alone.

I think half is pretty good for the NFL. I don't really pay attention to other teams drafts. But it would appear that 50% is pretty good.

That being said, very few are really high caliber players.

All this hysteria over the amount of interviewees and who it is is silly. Emery is doing this to leave no stone unturned while saving himself from the questioning, "why didn't you interview so and so?" if his HC pick fails.

Do you anticipate a lot of "Why didn't you hire Marc Trestman" complaints in 2016?

If Emery's pick fails, I fully expect the stupid media to ask, "why didn't you interview/hire (insert flavor of the month coach's name here)?"

I believe Emery will choose the best option possible for the Bears. While him interviewing Singletary makes my eyes roll up into my skull, it's purely for show as is interviewing the ST coordinators. Maybe Emery is picking their brains for information on OC's or other coaches not talked about or approached yet. These interviews are like the appetizers before the meal. Once Green Bay wins the SB, I expect the interviews to be fast and furious with real candidates.

Interviewing Singletary also helps satify the Rooney Rule.

They've already done that. I'm wondering if Samurai might just end up on the Bears Defensive staff as LB coach or something.

That'd be dumb.

He wasn't good enough to remain the Vikings LB coach after last year. Les Frazier had to make up a job title for him this year.

When you fire a black coach, it can't hurt doubling down when it comes to the Rooney Rule.

I still dont think it's worse than the "Bernsie is bad at fucking his wife" thread, but there's still time.

That one was worse on nadir value, but this one beats it for long-term shittiness.

Just look at that list. Bazuin, Wolfe and Okwo were actually drafted before the 6th round. That has to be up there as one of the all-time worse draft classes in Bears history.

And I would say that every GM that has ever led a team has a draft very similar.

It would be one thing if it was just one bad draft, but it wasn't. It was 6 horrendous drafts in a row.
