#Bears have brought back Matt Cavanaugh as their QBs coach.

From Wikipedia:
Quote:
chief recruiter and offensive coach, University of Pittsburgh (1992–1993);
offensive coach, Arizona Cardinals (1994–1995);
offensive coach, San Francisco 49ers (1996);
offensive coordinator, Chicago Bears (1997–1998);
offensive coordinator, Baltimore Ravens (1999–2004);
offensive coordinator, University of Pittsburgh Panthers (2005-2008)
assistant coach/quarterbacks coach, New York Jets. (2009-2012)

Trestman said he'll be deeply involved in quarterback meetings so I don't think this guy matters.

The day the Bears acquire Tebow will be the greatest day in the history of the Score.

Is anyone excited by these hires? Trestman didn't wast time cleaning the entire house. None of those names pop out in the right way though.

I give Trestman & EMery props for not screwing around with hiring coaches. They filled nearly every coach position in just a few days. It took Lovie Smith Months to hire just an OC.

I like that they aren't screwing around with things and that they are making quick and definitive decisions...but......if you go back in time 1 year and you take this entire coaching staff, it could have been the coaching staff at Illinois.

Look at the entire list and then say that to yourself. Kromer is legit and Decamillas is decent but the rest are extremely questionable.

You could say the same thing about the previous Bears coaching staff too.
I like Cavanaugh, although I'm not sure that Jay will...

Regardless of their records....there were previous NFL Head Coaches on that staff.

Marinelli isn't a bad coach...maybe a bad HC but he should have been retained at all costs. Tice is a good line coach..not a good HC or OC, but as a line coach he is good.

(CBS) The Bears have reportedly completed their new coaching staff and the final hire is somewhat of a surprise.

According to BamaOnLine.com, Alabama wide receivers coach Mike Groh has accepted the same position with the Bears after interviewing with the team.

The hire is a surprise because Groh, 41, is also the Crimson Tide’s recruiting coordinator and widely regarded as one of the top recruiters in the country. He hasn’t coached in the NFL since 2000 when he started his coaching career with the New York Jets. After that season, he moved on to Virginia where he had played quarterback in the early 1990s.

Still, Groh is a highly respected wide receivers coach and for a position coach hiring, this one qualifies as a splash.

Bears head coach Marc Trestman said earlier Thursday that he would be announcing the new wide receivers coach in the next few days. It was the final position open on his staff.

I would think life as a college football recruiting coordinator would suck, especially in the SEC.
