That post does a great job of showing the irrational nature of many religious people.

I guess Mini Ditka is going to act like his NAMBLA post did not exist.

God certainly saw it

Would you be opposed to someone exploring their sexuality further in counseling?

In my graduate counseling classes they were pretty explicit about not having sex with patients.

I thought my other point was more relevant. I find NAMBLA to pretty disturbing and even the gay movement wants to distance itself from pedophilia, I don't think it necessarily can. Not all gay people are sexual molesters or sexual molesters would generally be considered to be gay. But there is a relationship between molestation and homosexuality. The fact that a boy would be molested by a man and later in life desire sex with men makes too much sense. I think it's one of the missing links in the chain. I find it very disturbing that someone could say they are gay and were molested, but the molestation did not have any effect. I have yet to hear someone say I was born this way and I would have been gay even if I was not molested.

You have showed your obvious bias in this thread toward private schools, catholic schools and Catholics in general.

I'm not sure why you felt anyone who can read didn't see it earlier and needed your picture book instead.

There are lesbian women who have been molested by men as well. Molestation for a woman could lead to lesbianism, it could lead to being sexually promiscuous (i.e. doing porn, working as a prostitute), gaining weight to protect a woman from being looked at by men or other things.

Where is the bias? Cardinal Ratzinger before he became pope presided over one of the biggest scandals and coverups in church history.

So, Bryan, are you hereby giving as your professional scientific opinion that the cause of homosexuality is, with 100% certainty, unequivocally not the result of any biological or chemical element(s)?

. . . Besides, I did not describe homosexuality as any psychological disorder. Is being female a psychological disorder? Any psychological phenomena would only be due to the underlying effects of hormonal changes (pre-natal?) upon the body's biological sexual-selection mechanisms (hypothalamic nuclei, etc.).

Why are you reacting so harshly to a question? Someone in this thread specifically said it is a "psychological disorder"

Just wondering if you agree, Q-Beau

How can you link homosexuality and molestation and not heterosexuality and molestation?

Why is one attached to a certain sexuality and the other free and clear?

I dont think you've thought all these stances all the way through

Being molested doesn't turn you hetero. People are generally that way without being molested. Just because not all people who are molested are gay does not mean there is not a relationship between being molested and being confused about your sexuality.

The whole story of this Father Murphy person disgusts me. And Ratzinger led the office that was supposed to be investigating and taking care of these claims.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/25/world/europe/25vatican.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

Quote:
The Wisconsin case involved an American priest, the Rev. Lawrence C. Murphy, who worked at a renowned school for deaf children from 1950 to 1974. But it is only one of thousands of cases forwarded over decades by bishops to the Vatican office called the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, led from 1981 to 2005 by Cardinal Ratzinger. It is still the office that decides whether accused priests should be given full canonical trials and defrocked.

In 1996, Cardinal Ratzinger failed to respond to two letters about the case from Rembert G. Weakland, Milwaukee’s archbishop at the time. After eight months, the second in command at the doctrinal office, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, now the Vatican’s secretary of state, instructed the Wisconsin bishops to begin a secret canonical trial that could lead to Father Murphy’s dismissal.

But Cardinal Bertone halted the process after Father Murphy personally wrote to Cardinal Ratzinger protesting that he should not be put on trial because he had already repented and was in poor health and that the case was beyond the church’s own statute of limitations.

Father Murphy not only was never tried or disciplined by the church’s own justice system, but also got a pass from the police and prosecutors who ignored reports from his victims, according to the documents and interviews with victims. Three successive archbishops in Wisconsin were told that Father Murphy was sexually abusing children, the documents show, but never reported it to criminal or civil authorities.

Instead of being disciplined, Father Murphy was quietly moved by Archbishop William E. Cousins of Milwaukee to the Diocese of Superior in northern Wisconsin in 1974, where he spent his last 24 years working freely with children in parishes, schools and, as one lawsuit charges, a juvenile detention center. He died in 1998, still a priest.

Good day, sir.

If you don't read my posts (i.e. basically thereby declaring that you do not care how or what I may think on the matter), yet you proceed to ask me questions about what I believe. . . I don't see the point - beyond being purposely annoying, of course.

I didnt see anything in your posts about homosexuality being nature or nurture.

I dont know why you're annoyed. Its not like Im singling you out. Ive asked a few people since that claim was made.
