And you forgot about Walt Dropo and Fred Lynn.

How long was my list supposed to be? :o

Fernando Valenzuela won the Cy Young as a 20 year-old.

Yeah, if you include pitchers. And in that case, Bob Feller was probably the greatest 20 year old.

A Rod's first full year was ridiculous

Maybe better than Trout's considering defense

There are a lot of rookie seasons better than his but he's definitely in the conversation of best 20 year olds.

That picture hangs in his home. He looks at it after coming home from shirtless tanning in Central Park and picking up Jeter's cleaning while he applies purple lipstick

Agreed. I don't think I've seen anyone better. He came up a month into the season and he leads the league in damn near every category. I thought Harper would be better because he's a Mormon and you wouldn't have to worry about the partying.

One time All-Star. Calling McClouth an All-Star is a joke, and you know it, and your argument is weak.

He is a career .248 hitter with a .755 OPS. Look at his 2008 splits. He had a good first half to secure an All-Star spot, and then sucked in the second half.

Are we going to refer to Bryan LaHair as having an All-Star career?

There is a strong possibility that Brett Jackson never has a year as good as McClouth's 08

Brett's floor is bagging groceries.

This is going to be Bonds and Griffey Jr all over again. I think Trout will have the edge.

I still don't understand why that is so easily disregarded by some of you.

Because Trout was 19.

And Because Trout is top prospect and Jackson is not

And because having similiar numbers for a 1/6th of a season doesnt mean a whole lot

Without a doubt. Both would be the cornerstone of any franchise for at least the next 15 years.

I wrote Trout while I meant to write Harper. Harper has more room for improvement.

I don't think its troubling. He hasn't had a walk in 6 games.

If its within a couple points at the end of the month, then its an issue.

So...why are you discounting Brett Jackson based on these numbers?

Im not at all.

Its everything else.
immessedup17 wrote:
Brett Jackson was one ranked HIGHER than Mike Trout in Baseball America's Top Prospect ratings. They see the potential. His development as been slower, much slower.

You mean when they were drafted? Ok, thats another notch for Trout. Apparently Baseball America has been slowly admitting their mistake.

Ok.

I dont think Brett Jackson will ever hit 20 home runs in a season. He might not have 20 in his career.

Guys who walk and see a lot pitches dont usually go a week without walking.

I hear ya, but still. Only 6 games and its 6 games into a brand new season.

IMU, at this point, considering everything each of the players have gone thru and where they stand right now today, the ceiling for Brett Jackson appears to be everyday player. The floor is Joe Borchard-- a bust of a draft pick. He appears a lot closer to Borchard than playing 150+ games a year.

The ceiling for Mike Trout is Hall of Fame, considering he already has one MVP type season.

Yes, I understand your point of Trout coming up to the Show in 2011 and not doing so well....but he was also only 19 years old then. Jackson is 24 and if anything has regressed since 2011.
