Had he played 15-20 minutes , he could have been the difference and helped the Bulls win the series. That would have gone a long way in repairing some of the damage his rep has sustained. If he doesn't play in game 7 and the Nets win, the damage will be even worse. How his advisors could tell him that sitting out was the best idea is a mystery. It's been pretty much a full year since surgery and he was cleared over 2 months ago. How can he even look his teammates in the eye?

As has been pointed out in this thread, I think the only logical conclusion is that Rose is afraid of the Heat in general and of LeBron specifically and therefore he subconsciously does not want his team to advance.

Two years ago in the playoffs, Lebron shut Rose down in the 4th quarter and Rose clearly is not up to the challenge mentally, so he hides behind "muscle memory" and all this other bullshit.

And all of his people are nothing more than sheep and enable him by telling him what he wants to hear, etc. and Rose just hides in the corner like a scared child, shunning the media, and plays like "the man" in practice knowing no one will dare touch him there.

Meanwhile, his teammates are laying it all on the line doing whatever they can do to advance while "D Rose" kicks back secure in the tens of millions of guaranteed dollars he will receive contractually.

The man has become a very rich, self-absorbed, spoiled and pampered head case.

If true, this clearly is terrible advice given what is transpiring now.

This is a completely different explanation than what you eluded to previously. Which is probably why I agree with it.

I agree that Rose is getting horrible advice that is contributing to his not playing. It has nothing to do with big scary LeBron.

I do think it has something to do with LeBron. Given the way he (LeBron) has shut down a healthy Rose in the past in crunch time, Rose (and his people) may in fact feel they don't want to face LeBron until Rose is ready to go 40 minutes a game again.

And obviously at this point in the season, that ain't gonna be happening, so he chooses to sit and watch and bet that the fans will flock back to him next season. But in the mean time, his reputation goes right down the toilet as his teammates battle with everything they have and he plays the mute cheerleader.

And if Miami just happens to suffer an injury of their own, like Wade for example, then Rose will look that much worse for not helping the Bulls reach the East Finals and then possibly to the Finals against a weakened Western Conference after the Westbrook injury.

He said the issue is that Rose has a mental block and is terrified about being injured again.

Talked to a guy I know today that knows about sports insurance policy. If Rose does not play a minute this season he said the Bulls owe him nothing. The policy on him will pay the team and then they pay him. Sounds like a good deal for the Bulls. I had never thought about that angle before talking to my friend but it makes sense from a buisiness point of view.

I don't believe for a second that Roses teammates don't care about Rose not playing. That just isn't how team dynamics work. A Pussy like Rose can lose the respect of his teammates in a hurry.

The Rose camp are a bunch of damn fools. If Rose is this mentally afraid of hurting himself he should have declared he was out for season or the playoffs a couple weeks ago. This leaving the door open bullshit and not playing but jumping around like a damn fool just doesn't project a very good image. Even if you are Rose's side on this, you really can't deny that. Regardless of Rose's weak, fragile mental state this bad PR is all his fault by keeping this door open when he clearly knows he's a pussy. I've held out longer than most on questioning Rose, but this whole door open thing is a joke and at this point harms everyone involved. Anyone who thinks that the players aren't at least questioning Rose in private or in their minds is just fooling themselves.
