Personally, I think Samardzija and Wood are having good years. About as good as Peavy and Sale if not better.

let's look at WAR which benefits cubs higher IP:

sale and peav = 3.0
Smarj and wood = 2.8


Trust me, I looked at the stats before I said anything. the ERA+ numbers are hugely different.

You're right, that 0.2 difference in WAR is HUGE. It was ridiculous of me to try and compare.


Wood (3.98) and Samardzija (3.13) have been terrible and Sale (3.32) and Peavy (3.49) have been untouchable.

Look, you could have said, "you know surprisingly, Smarja and Wood are pitching almost as well as Peavy and Sale."

But you chose to say, "the argument could be made that they are better."

This was on top of the stuff TP pointed out earlier. There wasalso some rizzo man-love in the past couple of days too.

look, your guy wood has faced two above average teams all year ATL and CIN (2X). this shit goes both ways. I'm saying relative to league numbers, there is a bigger gap in performance. league OPS and ERA is higher in the AL. that is the fact. I don't know which league is "better."
