That was the same logic most everyone wanted LeBron and/or Wade to use in 2010. Didn't work then, won't work now. I know FF doesn't care about free agency at the moment, but I think it sucks that no big ticket free agent (not necessarily Howard) wants to come here.

I just think the FA thing is vastly overstated. The Bulls never legitimately had a shot in 2010 so I don't count that. In 2000 everyone still disliked Krause because of the end of the dynasty and there was an air of distrust around the Bulls that I don't think is still there. I find it hard to believe that there are more than a handful of teams more appealing than the Bulls.

We've already discussed free agency in general, so I won't ask my question within that context. But why do you think they did not have a shot in 2010? They had a young core and plenty of cap space. You know that Paxson deliberately set himself up for the LBJ/Wade/Bosh sweepstakes by dealing Hinrich and others to clear cap space. They were one of five teams to get some time with LeBron. They clearly wanted one or two of those guys and they failed. So why don't you count that?

I do remember reading something about collusion on Yahoo or something. But even if that were true, they all were going to get full boat, max offers from every team anyway. In fact they accepted less by signing with Miami, which is why Joe Johnson had the fattest contract in the league after free agency wrapped up. Did you all read anything about intel gathering? That's what I remember hearing on the radio when everyone was trying to speculate on the big three's motivations and strategy.
