Hate to leave you guys on a down note such as this game, but oh well.

I'll be vacationing/business-trippin' balls for a few days, and so my internet access will be limited, and when I do have it, I'm going to try not agonizing myself with message board nonsense for a change. It comes at a good time, personally, because I haven't felt like myself for a few weeks now. There's been a little real-world stuff giving me trouble, but nothing getting to hang out in Florida can't fix, and so figuratively shocking the system a little might be good for my mental health (better than ECT, which would be literally shocking the system). Worth a shot, if nothing else. It's lame that I have to try taking a board break to get my spirits back up, and it's lamer that I'm not only making a leaving post but hijacking a perfectly good thread to do it, but this seems to be where the party is, and people would probably ask why I'm not posting for Game 4. So I'll just pull myself out of the muck here and semi-quickly be back to making B&B avatars, and complaining about commercials about blues music, street fests, and CHEESEBURGERZZZ.

Hawks win 2-1 Thursday with goals from Kane and Kruger

Really no overarching thoughts on the game...kind of just a it happens game especially when there are two very good teams on the ice.

Kings obviously controlled long stretches of play, especially in the 2nd, which was helped by the parade to the penalty box. They scored a goal of a broken stick changeup etc and still needed Quick to make a few ridiculous saves in the 3rd for them to preserve the lead. Would love to no why icing was waived off there at the end. Every player on the ice seemed to be waiting for it to be called.

Bickell's price just went up again. My dream of 2.5-3 per might be getting ridiculous...he's pushing 4 now.

Leddy's has had a really rough series. He's still going to be great, but he's getting some yips with these huge Kings forwards.

No one thought sweep. Get them Thursday and then they have two chances on home ice.

I wouldn't be against a minor swap between the 1st two lines though.

Try:

88-19-29
81-26-10

How does not posting get you closer to a CSFMB March Madness Championship?

He should get a game. He hit a player in the face with his stick on purpose. He should be lucky to get only 1 game. If he was some 4th line bum he would probably get more.

Keith shouldn't be suspended for an intentional slash that was intended for the chest, but instead caught Carter in the face. Carter reached down and slashed Keith's bare hand as he was picking up his glove so of course he delivered a whack to Carter as anyone would and should do, but unfortunately the stick rode up and caught Carter in the face instead of the arm. Its no different than 100 other slashes/hooks behind the play that are delivered, it just landed wrong. Brown does 20 of these a game.

10 thoughts between games:

1) I said before yesterday's game that I do not like Q's coaching style. This team continues to have games where they are flat. The power play is crap. The line flipping works and then it doesn't so flip some more. I don't like it. I doubt the players like it. Even in the regular season, this team would take whole periods off. I understand it is tough to keep a great pace every period of every game, but now they seem to be taking whole games off. With this level of talent, the power play should not suck nor should the entire team go bad at once.

2) I can't tell if what Keith did was intentional. I lean towards what Shakes said. That makes the most sense. Keith obviously felt bad afterwards, so clearly he did not intend the face shot. Maybe he was just going for a hook or body slash. A suspension would surprise me. A fine is more likely.

3) The 2-1 score does not tell the tale of that game. The Kings missed the net a ton, and Crawford largely kept the Hawks in it. You replay that game 100 times with the relative efforts, and it should fall the Kings way 85%+.

4) CH, safe travels to FL. We'll miss you for game 4. I'll be in WI after game 4, so I too will be MIA this weekend.

5) A shame to lose Bickell, but I suspect his success is temporary. Someone will overpay, and it will be bad paper. He's hot right now, but this is the only major flash of his career.

6) I put a lot of blame on Toews. He is the captain, and when the team keeps coming out flat, it makes me think we need a more vocal leader. His own play has been way below what it needs to be. He gets plenty of roses thrown his way, but I haven't seen him do much the entire series.

7) Hossa looks old.

8) Seabrook still doesn't want to hit anybody.

9) Hammer gives his body up. Kudos for being a backstop.

10) I really want a Hawks/Penguins series. Here's hoping Pittsburgh bounces back.

Well, he's got 'em THIS far for the second time in four years, so...agreed on the power play, though

No news just yet, but I think if he gets a game that is fair. A fine would work better, of course...

3) The 2-1 score does not tell the tale of that game. The Kings missed the net a ton, and Crawford largely kept the Hawks in it. You replay that game 100 times with the relative efforts, and it should fall the Kings way 85%+.

As bad as the Hawks were and as refocused as the Kings were, the Hawks were a Bickell shot away from tying the game late in the third. If the Hawks played like games one or two, they win last night.

4) CH, safe travels to FL. We'll miss you for game 4. I'll be in WI after game 4, so I too will be MIA this weekend.

Travel mojo to you both.

5) A shame to lose Bickell, but I suspect his success is temporary. Someone will overpay, and it will be bad paper. He's hot right now, but this is the only major flash of his career.

Agreed. I would want another season like this before offering anything substantial.

6) I put a lot of blame on Toews. He is the captain, and when the team keeps coming out flat, it makes me think we need a more vocal leader. His own play has been way below what it needs to be. He gets plenty of roses thrown his way, but I haven't seen him do much the entire series.

He's been bad, but no - more vocal does not equal better.

7) Hossa looks old.

Sadly, yes - it's like he's run out of gas since the playoffs started. Sure, he's scored a few goals, but he's not playing like the Hossa we are used to - the little board battles, passing, etc -

8) Oduya still doesn't want to hit anybody.

FIFY. Seabrook's had a few, at least.

9) Hammer gives his body up. Kudos for being a backstop.

He's the new Sopel.

10) I really want a Hawks/Penguins series. Here's hoping Pittsburgh bounces back.

I don't care.

Can someone please tell me how the Hawks can win tomorrow without their #1 dman in a building where the home team hasn't lost all post-season in? I expect the Kings to come out with even more energy than last game knowing that the Hawks are shortharded at D.

The Hawks can win......why the hell not. LA can't be beat at home, Quick is the most amazing guy in net ever and now they don't have to worry about Keith on D. Sounds like a recipe for assuming a win before even taking the ice. This is a classic case of everyone asking why and the Hawks will be asking why not.

I thought about it for a second and remembered all the shit that hasn't even been reviewed that you could argue was worse than this play. So I was thinking maybe he'd get off. However, a slash to the face is one of the biggest things that's frowned upon in the game so I'm not surprised at all. Luckily it's just 1 game, but still, fuck.

God I'd rather see Stanton or Clendening than Brookbank.... Although it wouldn't be fair for their first NHL experience to be in the Western Conf finals lol.

I was thinking about this too. Maybe, just maybe, the Hawks come out guns ablazin knowing that there's no room for error with their #1 dman out and take the Kings by surprise. I have a feeling this is going to come down to what kind of game Oduya has.

I agree. I'm sorry but the Kings just don't impress me. Statement game at home , backs against the wall , etc and the fucking best they can do is a 2 to 1 win? Hawks come out and play like they did last 10 minutes instead of sleepwalking the first 2 periods they will be fine.

Even without Keith the Kings will score two goals maximum. I think the loss of Keith can be easily offset by Toews or Kane deciding to show up. Still waiting for their "Fuck You" game. Jeff Carter of all the flakey spazzes in the world had one for fucksakes last game.

So Boston will be the Eastern Conference representative. Kings are a great way to prepare for the Hawks. Though, the Kings lack the supply fucksticks the Bruins do. Bruins are definitely a reflection of an asshole NE sports fan.

I can't remember a time when a stud player like Kane has completely disappeared. He isn't engaged, cant find open ice, & doesn't look like he's playing hard. He looks like hes 40 years old. He touches the puck for a second or 2 & gets taken off the puck. He has had chances to shoot but instead has chosen to try to be fancy, which has resulted in nothing. The fact that Kane, Toews & Hossa haven't done anything in the playoffs yet they still are where they are is a testament to the Hawks talent & depth. Sharp, Bickell, Shaw, Handzus, Keith & Frolik have been carrying the team, & Q has done a great job of pushing he right buttons.

My guy Leddy has a great game & the Hawks win game 4 3-2, with goals from Leddy, Kane & Sharp.

Kane is 4th on the team with 10 points, tied for 4th in +/- and he has an crazy low shooting % of 4.0. That's the equivalent of BABIP in baseball being like .190. He's also 2nd on the team with 50! shots this postseason. So what's your definition of disappear or choosing to be fancy. I'm not going to argue he's been great, but completely disappeared is just as wrong to say. He's been shooting, he's tied for 2nd in assists etc. He's going to explode soon, hopefully it's tonight

Hossa has more points, better +/-. The goal difference is his slightly elevated 14% shot percentage.

Yeah, while Kane has not "disappeared", it seems that in the current series, he's reverted back to Kane v 2011-2012 - poor awareness, bad passing, too much stickhandling, etc.

As far as the top forwards go, other than Sharp, it has been noted by the "experts" who know much more than me that in many deep playoff series, the top scorers of opposing teams tend to be neutralized, and that is when the team depth usually comes through - which is why guys like Bickell, Voynov, etc. seem to be the "unexpected" heroes...
